As you know, I've just had a system fitted and am trying to register as a user on PVOutput, as I think it'll offer some good data recording and comparisons.

There are one or two things I am having difficulty understanding regarding what to input:

    1. Tarrif data (I'm on 14.38p generation, 4.77 export and 11.46p import). I've no idea what all the boxes are for and where I'm supposed to input these figures to get the correct calculations!

    2. Azimuth. I've no idea what this is. I do know that my system is roughly SSW facing, but other than that I've no info that I can find.

So can anyone hlp please? :o

    Hi

That's a really decent saving considering the increase in fuel prices over the last 5 years ....

Considering that the combined gas & electricity increase over that period must be at least 50%, you must now only be consuming 39% -(70/(120x1.5))of the energy you were using 5 years ago and the annual current cost savings would be £1320 (((120x1.5)-70)x12), which is pretty much the same as the average UK household total dual fuel energy expenditure (including standing charges), or the cost of ~9000kWh of imported electricity.

Well done, but I reckon that the majority, as opposed to "some", of the saving isn't pv related ..

    HTH
    Z

Just compared 2011 (pre S/P) with last year

    In 2011 I used 5149 kWh of electricity compared with 2304kWh in 2013 = 44.7%:D

    In 2011 I used 16221kWh of gas compared to 13522kWh in 2013 = 83.3%:D

I guess that brings me somewhere near your 39%

As I have previously stated;) ;)some of the savings have come from getting rid of my old "F" rated freezer in the garage with next to nothing in. I also run a de-humidifier but, rather than leave it on the whole day as I used to, I now run it on "max" when my solar output is at it's highest or during daylight hours, and then switch to "economy" setting in the evenings. Because I am in on any days I choose, I react to the weather and run anything I can at max when SP output is good. All of my old lights were changed for LED ones too. Before SPV I left almost everything turned on and did not know what the running costs were for each individual appliance...I do now. According to "Wattson" since Sept 2013 I have used almost 1400kWh that I would have had to pay for.

Maybe having my S/P fitted, was the kick up the backside I needed, to do something about my fuel bills:rotfl:

These are my Tariff Data settings:
    Export Model: Gross UK
    Import Model: Net
    Net Interval: Every Interval

    Export Peak: 4.77
Generation Peak: 14.9 (you obviously need 14.38 there!)

Import Peak: 10.71 (You'll need to input 11.46)

As for Azimuth, it's the degrees away from 0 (being north) that your panels face. I have some facing SW/SSW-ish, and have put 200 as Azimuth. Truth be told that's not *too* important, as it's more for info.

Hiya Groovy. I was going to say, shouldn't that be from south, azimuth being the point of interest, to us (PV'ers) the sun. But it then occurred to me, isn't PVOutput an Australian creation? Not sure.

Sorry to be a pedantic pain, but for anyone entering an azimuth on PVGIS (as opposed to PVoutput) it'll be degrees from south, with SW being +45, SE -45 etc etc.

BTW, lot of rain here, gen is not good. :( But brightening up slowly. :)

Yeah, you're right, actually! PVGIS has South as 0.
Just checked help docs for PVOutput and it states: System azimuth allows the orientation to be define in degrees from 0 to 360.

So, yeah... don't want to confuse anyone!!

And yeah, lots of rain here too... just got in, and just hit 5kWh. Knew it was going to be poor. Been spoiled by all these good days :)

    Car Insurance Carver!
It has been a while since I posted, but I'm still keeping tabs on our system.

    March generation beat PVGIS estimate by 32% (2013: -7%, 2012: +43%)
    April generation beat PVGIS estimate by 6% (2013: +11%, 2012: +3%)

May has been pretty good on the whole until recently. We're currently 12% short of PVGIS for the month but there's 10 days to go. We should comfortably beat PVGIS for May and that would mean we break through 9MWh on the TGM. Even if there was zero generation for the rest of May, we'd still be 9% ahead of PVGIS for 2014 after 5 months, but I reckon it'll be more like 17% ahead if we average 10kWh/day.

The week to Monday just gone was one of our best weeks ever, averaging 21.2kWh per day (5.73 Os).

Our ImmerSUN recently clocked up 2MWh (since late Sept 2012), and as of yesterday had diverted 36% of our generation to the hot water tank since it was installed.

    4.65 O's or 18.6kWh today:D

Also received my FITs payment of £491 for Feb to May....and it came from Eon in 4 working days:T

That's quite interesting Legoman; you had your system install a few days afore me, my 1/4 ends today. I've calculated that I am due £393, you did £491, using the O' system makes you £122.75p and I, £157.20p........smiley-laughing021.gif

Similar story here with showers and cloud hence only 3.44 O's...coffee.gif

Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

I had 9kWh before midday, then the heavens opened!
    Finished on 10.24kWh/2.56 ho's.

Yes to all, the rain did a lot of my cleaning, but there are some stubborn stains on the first panel for each string :(

    Still, onwards etc....

    Well done you!:T

Just goes to show what a difference a big one (PV system) makes:D

But......if I were to use the same period as you (7 days later) I would have made 1099.8kWh and received £549.00, which would have made £137.25....ish;)

    2.25 O's or 8.1kWh yesterday:D
