John that is such a good suggestion, that immediately after I'd finished slapping my forehead, I went to do it. The result was:

    1. Unfortunately due to misuse in the past we can't allow links in signatures (live or inactive)

    Doh! But many thanks regardless.

[However .... nothing stopping me from mentioning it ..... back in a bit. [edit: done M.]]

A reasonable day here weatherwise today, but only 7 kWh generated. Felt like more of an 8 or 9 day, (after 3 1/2 years I can usually guess pretty accurately and am rarely surprised) but I guess this is a result of the high pollution levels reducing the clarity of the light (for want of a better expression :o)?

I got the same sensation yesterday:

It was sort of sunny all day but I could not get up to 3kW even at noon:
    11 kWh = 3 "O"s

    Rain needed?

I wonder how they get on in the Chinese Mega Cities, where you cannot see the stars?

A mere 2.4 Os for me yesterday, and looking worse today. Well below PVGIS targets so far this month, but it's early days so I'm hoping it gets better!

It seems my panels will get a good wash on Sunday, hopefully that will wash away any Saharan sand :D

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

    Hi

It absolutely hammered it down here for a while at sometime last night, enough to refill the water-butts (approx. 1/2tonne collected) which were running pretty low. The greenhouse & cloche are still filthy, but not as bad as yesterday - at least it's streaky as opposed to an overall layer .... bet the panels are pretty much the same too !

No sign of rain here just yet, although the sky is full of thick grey clouds so the sand probably not making much difference in any case today :(

Had a quick squiz up at the panels on my way back from lunch and they look pretty filthy - a strange dull red-ish colour instead of the usual blue/black sheen.

I'm pleased to report that the fog finally left us this afternoon:j.

Forecast doesn't look too promising for next week, but they have been known to be wrong once or twice before;). Here's hoping...

    7.1 kWh today.

    Evening all,

at the end of our first 2 weeks, we have generated 140 kWh.

Our 4kw system, 16x250w EcoFuture in 8x8 format, connected as 2 strings to a Schüco branded SunnyBoy 3800 inverter, has been chugging away quite happily but as we only have the Geo Solo pv, I can't tell the net usage - and no I'm not going to read meters everyday!

The pv array is facing south east, about 135° from North, in Corby, and we have a chimney stack which shadows the 1st 3 panels late in the day.
    energy_chart_1.png

The chart is missing the install day generation, which was 0.5kWh, but as the geo was installed last, it only shows 0.35kWh.

So, the big question: are our figures about right considering the weather? Is there any way of comparing with others in the area?

I've ordered a SolarImmersion today, that should be with us next week (note that the reduced price of £199.99 excludes vat and carriage at £9, which their cart brought to £247 plus shrapnel) so we'll use some of the lovely energy rather than export it all!

So it's only accurate measurement that I need now - I know of the wattson, chorus pv and efergy, any others I should consider?

Thanks all for the very useful help!
