Can someone tell me what PVGIS stands for -I assume its your monthly predicted targets - if so how do you get them? I've been given a target figure for the end of each year which if achieved will may off my investment in 7 years but I haven't got anything for individual months I just know that I need to make loads now to make up for those winter months!

Thanks for the PVGIS figures Martyn - something tells me this is going to be a low gen day.

Did you get the Excel file off your wifes e-mail? And does it work for you OK? (Not that I know your wife:o)

11.8kWh for me today, :j sorry you guys who got the storms. Which means 2 days to get 6.8kWh to meet PVGIS:T:beer: Think I need an extra thick Anorak.:rotfl:

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

    12kWh for us again today!:)

Broke through June's target figure by mid-day, so next couple of days generation will be in excess of prediction :j

Been a very odd day today. Down to virtually zero between 11 & 12 but a 5min average of 2.7 at 12:15 and several 'instant peaks' well over 3kW during the afternoon (though a lot more 'long troughs' !).

Total generation today was 10.6 kWh (356 kWh for 1st 28d of June). Two days @ 38 kWh/day would just see me getting to the pvgis 'forecast' for June. Slightly better chance of a major lottery win !

Yes - thanks for that, we're putting together something similar using your layout :-)

Here's something weird for all you number crunchers out there; one of the "was it worth it" tests we wanted to apply to our investment was the old "what would my ISA be earning" question.

Our figures are such that what ever daily kWh generation reading we make, the corresponding FiT payment for that day is exactly equal to the AER % rate of interest of the original investment.

The actual test is depositing the original investment in a well known Spanglish bank offering a 2 year fixed ISA at 4% with a sprinkling of 0.1% if some golfer has a good day at the 18th hole.

er, let me put that in english; yesterday we generated 7.1kWh. This is worth £1.60 (Fit + export) which is equivalent to 7.1% AER of our investment in PV. If I generate 10.5 kWh today, then that would be equivalent to 10.5% AER. If the weather sorted itslef out and I generated 18 kWh, then that's equavalent to 18% AER.

Going back to the ISA test - any figure above 4% (or any generation figure above 4kWh) is a winner...which is why I want more days of 20+ kWh :rotfl:

How does everyone else do their PV vs ISA tests?

Stuart, I think your system sounds quite fair. But just to be argumentative (for a change!!!), my feeling was, if the investment is worth it, you go for it, and that becomes the new investment, regardless of the alternatives. But just to contradict myself, having a baseline (such as an ISA) for reference is useful.

If I'm correctly running your numbers backwards, then I get a cost of approx £8,225?

Do you also allow a figure for leccy savings, if not, then that's a bonus of approx 30p/day or an additional 1.5units to help with your 'balance sheet' (technically I suppose it would actually go on the profit and loss statement, but I digress).

Then an extra bonus given that FITs, export, and leccy savings are all index linked, whereas the ISA isn't. Happy days!

Of course an ISA won't 'generate' 0.25% less each year, nor demand a new inverter every 10 to 20 years. Well, you can't have everything. :rotfl:
