And so it shouldn't - the plural is roofs. Didn't we have this conversation recently?

Not doing very well generation wise at the moment as have loads of lovely trees shading my panels. Beautiful colours out the back in the autumn though. Like others had great generation this summer so not complaining.

I checked with the OED today and found they accept either although seem slightly happier with the f version.

However, they also offered a link to an older edition where they were adamant the v version was to be preferred.

Speaking as an older person, I'll stick with the traditional spelling.

Aah well, at least that's two within the universe....:rotfl: Next you will be posting M8 for mate..........:rotfl:
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Language changes when too many people start making the same mistake. Thus, if enough uneducated people do so then bacteria becomes bacteriums just like stadia did, and we all start writing zero's because we don't know its plural. Sadly, this process can only accelerate when the linguistically challenged are able to publish anything they like on the www.

I remember seeing Stephen Fry being interviewed on this subject, and those that complain about the English language continuing to morph.

He suggested they go away, but used a word starting with 'f'. As he pointed out our language is one of the most versatile and variable, and has never stood still, though it has slowed down due to the use of dictionaries.

Our language is probably the most democratic thing we have. Once a majority start to use something, it becomes the new norm.

I suppose I'm a bit of a traditionalist, but at the same time, it's nice to watch things grow and change. Anyone tried reading Shakespeare in its original form? I reckon the examiner was in a good mode when I squeaked an O'level in English Lit.
