Howdy folks :) just popped in to say hello

Sunpowers are still outperforming PVGIS and installers projected output, even for November, proof in the pud will be this month.

I'll put some numbers up tomorrow can't on this tablet

Just sent off my first quarter read on the 20th nov, 914 kwh, should get around £160 :j

Leccy bill is creeping up to £25pm but still 40-50% reduction, happy days glad I took the plunge in the summer. Looking into the new immersun 2 for next years project! Can't wait to tell the missus:rotfl:

    Hi Martyn,

yes it is Jan and Bev...and again yes, this is very addictive...

My panels must be as you state, hardly woke up today as we had lots of cloud and it seemed to be dark all day...I have 3 panels on my main back roof, 4 on my extension, and 7 on what I suppose is the WNW you speak of, as its a hipped semi roof with my neighbours getting sun on the roof opposite to mine getting sun of a morning...hey ho, hopefully, I get a return in the summer...as I said, not massive wracking up of KWs since install, but the weather is pretty gloomy. I hope come April/Summer, it begins to repay in terms of the FIT, but, my main hope has been to reduce the actual bills over a longer term.

On a very sad note, I find myself wanting to look on here asap I get home.

Finally, why is WNW exclusive? Is it because it struggles to generate?

    Thanks for the info

Hiya. Sounds like a fun install, with panels everywhere. Are the 3 + 4 panels on the back all the same orientation, and the same roof pitch? Sorry to be nosey, but do you mind me asking what make and model your inverter is. You mentioned it's a dual inverter, and I assume it runs the two strings 7 & 3+4 separately.

Basically ...... yes. Some might laugh at an install with a 'N' in it. Some people think installs have to be south to work, whilst more commonly, SE to SW is recognised as really good. As you get further to East or West generation starts to drop off more. Not the end of the world, figures for my house are (per 1kWp):
    South 955kWhs pa
    ESE 841
    E or W 777
    WNW 703

Obviously it drops off, but not the end of the world. Sorry to bore you, but I've chatted about this many times with a guy Roger on here (Rogerblack), that if installing, and not enough South(ish) roof available, then better to use all roofs as the cost of an install has so much fixed costs it's worth using less ideal roofs.

Personally I did the WNW roof as a separate install (not too clever) but the bug had bit by then, and my excuse is 'I had a lot of lemons, so wanted to see how much lemonade I could make.'

Once the clocks go forward again, the WNW roof will hopefully be generating (a little bit) till 6pm, and in the summer, right through to 8/9pm. Have fun.

Generation and weather not good so far, and today possibly worse. But good news, next 7 days look brilliant ...... according to the forecast :rotfl:

Just 1/4 O & 1/2 O so far, roll on the winter solstice.

Hi Martyn...the array is 4 x 305 kw -South (almost SW)...4 x 305kw SW and 6 x 305kw NW...had the company out today as I was concerned about generation for the 6 panels but take your point that come the brighter weather, they should generate into the late afternoon as in the summer, the roof at that point gets sunlight, maybe not between our house and next doors, but we are slightly stepped up to their house (I have never been concerned with these issues in my life before this install!)...my hipped roves and fact I have a velux window have impacted the optimum placing of the panels, so the best has had to be done...re the inverter, yes it is dual and runs the 6 plus 4+ 4 .....have the name but will have to look it up....hardly any generation again today, but I suppose given the cloud and lack of light, never mind sun, I will just have to bide my time. As I have become fanatical, lol, I will be back with fuller details, but have family member in hospital so need to go for now. Here's to longer days and some clear skies.
