Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

18.41 kWh today.Suspect you were thinking of this thread where 'energysavingexpert' mentioned his ceramic filters in post #16 /As usual I'm just a bit behind you (20.77kWh) - almost certainly due to shallower pitch as I didn't see a cloud all day apart from a few contrails.Kernel_Sanders wrote: »I still think you will catch up (and, indeed, overtake me) before we reach the solstice.The optimum pitch for SS day would be approx 30deg (latitude - 23deg). Your 23deg is closer to that than my 17.5 - but we'll both be better off that day than anyone with a slope of 45deg.
You are beating my production most days this month by several %, whereas most of the year the reverse is true. How do you account for this given that your capacity is just 2% greater?0 -
7.36 kwh / 2.45 O's
Not my fault that sun is shy of Sheffield
Or is that Sheffield is shy of Sun...:rotfl:
3.96 O's today for I....
Interestingly; to me anyway, last June 2012 - 15th I did 42.24 O's; this year, same period managed 76.28 O's....:eek:
Totals for complete June's were 2012 = 109.76 O's and 2013 already incl. of today is 80.24 O's........

I don't think the few degrees of difference in slope would make a huge difference either way.
No doubt it's all down to variable cloud cover and I've just been lucky. Tunnel lives even closer and there are often huge unexplained differences between our results.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

Rarely went above 2kW so no immersion heater on today. Same tomorrow too, so looks like it's back to strip washes! Can't seem to lay my hands on a 2nd hand 1kW (or lower) element.0 -
Not much to report from Sheffield. . 7.04 kwh / 2.34 O's... There is no end to sight. ... after a good start to the month is going down hill. ..0

Seems I'm ahead of you yet again - but my 12.69 kWh isn't exactly dwarfing yours.
You could do what I've done with my immersion heater and run a 3kW (230V) element at 115V when it magically transforms into a 750W element. A brand new builders site transformer is only approx. £50 and a s/h one usually a lot less (I think mine was £15)NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

I've been looking back over this thread at what I've been missing in my absence and discovered the source of the 'O':Martyn1981 wrote: »In tribute to Oscargrouch we've shortened kWh's/kWp down to Oscars or O's. So I got 2.35 O's today.Kernel_Sanders wrote: »OK so who's going to have the worst generation total today (as a %age of kWp?) I ended up with a paltry 1.16 kWh (so, 29.6%).Using your method I got 113% today. My lowest ever, in December, worked out at 7.5%.
Now I find that Oscar has usurped me, and his plagiarism means I will not now be immortalized alongside Ohm, Watt or Volta! :mad:0 -

Oh dear! If that has annoyed you KS, then I suggest you don't read the next quote extract:Martyn1981 wrote: »Solar PV Q&A’s Index PTII
11. Common terms and acronyms used on this site in conjunction with PV and renewables in general.
NG = National Grid
O's = Oscars - slang abbreviation for kWh's/kWp to compare PV generation after taking install size into account
Poly = Polycrystalline panels
Perhaps a compromise can be reached, and you and Oscar can share the fame. If you are happy I suggest 'OK's' if you want to fight for greater recognition, might I suggest 'KO's'.
Back to reality, yesterday was a surprise average+ day with 22kWh's or 3.94 O,OK,KO's.
Today as supposed to be grotty, but now predicting nice weather from 11 to 7, followed by 8 grotty days - hope the forecast is wrong.
