Recently we've had a spike of 4.4 displayed on the Sunny Beam but looking at the data on the PC the max has been 4.02 kw, it usually caps at 3.96 and then there is a nice flat top to the graph.

That was a couple of weeks ago. The last week has been awful, pathetic, sad and somewhat miserable.

No doubt SunnyBeam does same as Explorer and displays data almost live.

Exported data to PC (and indeed the Sunny Explorer graphs) are usually averaged over 5 mins.

Assuming you now have Holmes on your PC; you should be able to display the exact time that this occurred. If you go to History>(move the slider down to zoom 1 hour)> select the day it occurred and you should be able to see how long it lasted; as this setting is segmented into 30 sec periods on the line graph. My system 2.5 kWh has been seen to peak at 3.2 kW for short periods. :)
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Thanks Oscargrouch, I have got Holmes on my PC but my Wattson is away having a new battery fitted.

Below is a Screen Grab from today; around 10:00 - 14:00 hrs. Nice to see that most of the generation was used in-house. smiley-laughing021.gif Although with passing clouds the timing is not always good, as can be seen by usage being 3.740kW and Generation only being 876 W. (bottom left corner) But Sh*te happens....smiley-laughing021.gif

4.96 O's Today. Started off well, then a few passing dark clouds. Cleared up in the PM ( Not the PM in Gov. thank goodness) Better 1/2 did 5 loads of washing, cooked late Sunday Lunch at a very reasonable price; as illustarted above. Final conclusion smiley-laughing021.gifsmiley-laughing021.gifsmiley-laughing021.gif

Am I the only one that leaves the grass until I can cut it with "free" electric?

Nah, I'm the same, since having PV I stopped mowing it at night in the rain and only mow the lawn when it's warm dry and sunny now. [Sorry, but you walked into that one!]

4.57 O's yesterday, so another week 3 day above target. Generating before 6am today, with almost 1kW by 6.15am when the WNW system kicked in as well. Cool!

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

Alas, I'll have to wait a very long time before my free electricity can be used to generate petrol for my tractor ! :D

Fairly steady going over the weekend, but today is looking like a bit of a subdued day with a blanket of cloud hanging over cider country:

    Friday 17.4 kWh (4.7 O's)
    Sat 19.4 kWh (5.2 O's)
    Sun 11.9 kWh (3.2 O's)

77% of PVGIS target already achieved and 25% ahead of the pro-rata target as of last night. Still looking likely to beat 500kWh for the month which would be our best ever (absolute) performance. Our record month to date was 444 kWh last May.

Panasonic has announced the launch of its new HIT Black-Back Sheet solar photovoltaic module. The new panel boasts an eye-catching design that not only sports all black cells and back sheet, but also a full black frame. Panasonic hopes that the striking aesthetics will help the module appeal to those home owners more concerned with design.
The new module also benefits from a module efficiency of 18.6 percent with a cell conversion efficiency of 21.1 percent. Anti-reflection glass helps increase the energy absorption, while the three-tab design has been translated into a full black appearance, enlarging the effective area which Panasonic claims allows more sunlight to be captured and helps reduce electrical loss in the cell fingers.
A common problem found in all-black solar PV modules is the effect of heat absorption on yield. Panasonic’s new HIT N235B and N230B offer increased yields compared to other all-black modules due to the panels’ high temperature Pmax coefficient of 0.3 percent/oC.
The modules are fully approved by TÜV and MCS certificates, and have begun shipping this month. Panasonic are currently showcasing the new modules at this year’s Intersolar EU exhibition in Munich in hall A1, stand 170
