4.62 O's for yesterday. Not a lot of generation after 4 due to very dark skies.
    6.4kWp (16 * 400Wp REC Alpha) facing ESE + 5kW Huawei inverter + 10kWh Huawei battery. Buckinghamshire.

It’s not great in winter. In December I only generate about half of what I would with a South facing system. I find PVGIS over estimates winter generation potential for E-W panels. I have never got anywhere near the PVGIS estimate for December (usually around 70-80%) whereas in May (2020) I have seen 118%.

Having said that, I think having panels on 3 elevations is great. I dislike drawing from the grid and if I could have more panels I would. Payback might take a long time but you will have the satisfaction of generating at breakfast and tea time - at least for part of the year.

Thanks for that. It makes sense that the performance is not good in winter, but it's disappointing to find out that PVGIS is overestimating winter. Unfortunately I have the roof I have... it sounds like ideally I should add E & W as well as improving the density of my S production.

@Chris_Type_R - A view of my S and E roof spaces if it helps,. Think this works out out 4:1

    Todays generation was 4.6 & 1.551 O's

Thanks for posting that - it doesn't make the case for E&W more compelling :( I'm looking to use Hyundai shingle panels which supposedly have decent performance in lower / diffuse light conditions - these are quite pricey, but have the frame size that will fit.
    Central Beds, 2.02kWp (9 x 225W) south facing with some morning shade, installed 2011 (£7.16/Wp). Tigo monitoring/optimisers on all panels, Growatt MIC 2000 TL-X Inverter and Solar iBoost installed 2022. (4 x 415W + 6 x 405W garden experiment connected to SunSynk 3.6 hybrid inverter & 2 x 5.3kWh SynSynk batteries) (4 x 405W panels queued to go somewhere)

I agree it's not great but I'm ok with that. It all depends how much roof space you have, angle of slop, and may other variables. We are slightly down the north side of a hill, with the trees and other properties we miss out on the early sun especially in the winter months.  A very near neighbour has exactly the same system as ours, again 2 arrays, with the same number of panels, theirs is mounted on flat roofs on tubs, but all south facing, My generation figures trample all over his even with our low East figures.
    2 Separate arrays, 7 x JASolar 380w panels (2.66kWp) south facing, 4 x JASolar 380w panels (1.52kWp) east facing, 11 x Tigo optimizers & cloud, Growatt SPH5000, Growatt 6.5kWh Hybrid battery (Go-live 01/12/21) - Additional reporting via Solar Assistant.

I have put up yield figures but stopped when I realised that there is nothing we can do to influence how many photons impinge on our panels. Everyone’s daily yield is unique to their physical installation and the weather conditions around it.

And a very welcome 6.2 O's here to keep the EV charged following three visits to FIL today, there will no doubt be another couple tomorrow and the day after as things currently stand. Of course I could try running it on coal but not sure we'd get very far. ;)
