And a new record for me too, pretty impressive for April 20th, if only next door's roof didn't cast a shadow in the afternoon when the sun is this low. 12.96 kWh or 6.48 O's :-)

Hmm, Know the feeling all too well with that. Wish i'd heard about solar edge before I put my garage install in, get exactly the same problem, could possibly be "losing" another 2kWh as a result. Oh well...live an learn

    forecasts.

8.34 so far with an hour and a half to go till Noon and we're currently generating 3kW so (if all is well) we could reach 13 by Noon and 26 by sunset. Or of course we could have an unexpected total eclipse starting any minute and lasting all afternoon !

Well I nearly made the 26. Not too disappointed with 25.50 (=12.36 in beer tokens; E=13.7)

Generation for first 20 days of April was 292.04 kWh. If last ten days live up to promise of first twenty (and of course one is entitled to assume they ought to be even better) that would be 438.06 in a full month compared to PVGIS forecast of 353 (old rules) or 381 (revised) - which would be at least 15% over target.

All three forecasters are telling me tomorrow will be less sunny - but seriously, what are the chances of them getting two days right in a row ?

    Hi All

Not as good as weather forecasts here today -clouds bubbled-up and stayed around almost all day, probably dropping the generation by 20-30% .... good news though is that, after a few decent days, the solar thermal fully heated the HW cylinder for the first time this year - and all that by only diverting max~20W from the pv ....

At what cost of install..... Me thinks, time for a new thread; Talking about my return from " InVestment " smiley-laughing021.gif

Ah but you have to know exactly how much of the generated electricity you are using and what the alternative cost of something else producing that output would have been. [economy7/gas/etc. and does it make sense to claim a massive saving if you alternative source was day time electricity ?]
You are one of the few generators who could accurately produce that figure.

    16kWh generated here yesterday (7.207 kWh/kWp) :j

16kWh is the most I've ever generated in a single day, and last happened 26/5/12. All other occurrences have also taken place during the month of May in both 2012 and 2011, so this was the best generation of any April day since installation :)

    Hmmm...

24 kWh yesterday but have noticed that the CurrentCost is possibly incorrect i.e. reading to low as sometimes it is not receiving the signal from the wireless clamp and needs a prod to display output again.

Yesterday was fantastic but not recorded. Perhaps because the inverter was bouncing off its limit which was interfering with the CurrentCost wireless transmitter velcro'd to the inverter  This has now been moved and so far the issue seemes resolved.

Despite having a mix of cloud/sun and spits of rain today the solarimmersion is keeping the tank hot :)

Hi all back from a 4 week holiday in sunny NZ where they have very few PV installations.
I am very pleased with yesterday's output of over 28kWh.
Now I am ready to purchase a system such as the Wattson Solar Plus but is there anything better available? We have Economy 7 for storage heaters and an immersion heater for water - we are all electric. The immersion has been switched on only during the day time when producing over 3 kWh.
Options are to buy a Wattson S+, change the immersion heater to say 1.5 kw, wire it to a plug and use an Wattson Optiplug, another Optiplug could also be used to boost the storage heater during the daytime when excess electricity is being produced and heat is required later in the day. Has any one come across any other products? Advice welcome.
I have just spotted this on Ebay 200917308680.

The company who fitted our panels are offering this in their quarterly newsletter.

"currently you are paid to produce electricity on your roof, you are then able to use that electricity for free.It is then assumed you are sending 50% back to the National Grid and you are paid for that also.If you do not use that electricity it goes back to the National Grid, and the benefit is lost.By installing an EMS,it will monitor any electricity flowing back to the National Grid and divert it either a heating element,or immerser circuit for you, therefore giving you further savings on your heating bill"

    Installation £550.....av. payback 3-4 years.

    Worth it or not ?
