    Oh dear Shafeeq,

I hope your not resorting to cheating to beat Oscar. Think you'll find that should be 2.7466667 O's. I'm sure it was just a slip of the finger:rotfl:

The above shows Saturdays Pie Chart - 10.2 kWh used in the home representing over 76% of total generation. Normal house use before I had the Opti Plug was an average of 9 kWh. Now with the plug diverting all surplus to an oil filled radiator the usage has increased, but the EDF meter has not.

4.32 O's today, drop back from yesterday.......:(

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

We generated 14.61kWh yesterday 6.08 O's best day since install
    in Feb 2012.

    Today we got 9.94 kWh 4.14 O's

Another good day 23.6 kWh (£11.44)

Still down on the month, again
  • First half of the day was naff but late afternoon was hot. Current Cost ENViR shows 15kwh for yesterday but there will be some lost generation as it was unplugged and moved to a better location i.e. not stuck to the side of the inverter! Solar Immersion still produced a hot tank which was replensished after hot showers mid afternoon following lot's of gardening. At this rate I can't really see the ASHP heating the water until Nov :)

My personal best was on 20th June last year. Almost the longest day or shortest night if you prefer - I suppose it is a matter of temperature day, length and angle of roof slope. In my case there is a very small amount of shading in the summer as the sun rises behind the roof of an extension blocking the rising sun from the north east plus a tree also in that direction. (In winter the sun rises somewhere south of due east, so the roof and the tree are almost irrelevant.)

Hi all back from a 4 week holiday in sunny NZ where they have very few PV installations.
I am very pleased with yesterday's output of over 28kWh.
Now I am ready to purchase a system such as the Wattson Solar Plus but is there anything better available? We have Economy 7 for storage heaters and an immersion heater for water - we are all electric. The immersion has been switched on only during the day time when producing over 3 kWh.
Options are to buy a Wattson S+, change the immersion heater to say 1.5 kw, wire it to a plug and use an Wattson Optiplug, another Optiplug could also be used to boost the storage heater during the daytime when excess electricity is being produced and heat is required later in the day. Has any one come across any other products? Advice welcome.
I have just spotted this on Ebay 200917308680.

Welcome back - I hope you left the neighbours with instructions on what to do if the inverter switched off ?

As you have almost exactly the same situation as I have, here are a few more thoughts.

Big problem at this time of year is deciding if the system will generate a spare 2kW (say) at this time of year at say 06:30 and then making the decision to switch on the immersion. After all electricity costing 1/3 of normal is cheaper than Economy 7. (Owls need to make this decision before 01:00 the previous night.)

The "easiest" thing to do is fit a transformer (as in low voltage used on construction sites) as suitable switching would mean the 3kW immersion was still available for emergencies (this water has run cold ......!!) but the inverter could be used in summer cloudy conditions.

Fortunately my generation meter is next to my importing meter, so it is easy to see if spare electricity is available and then counting the flashes gives the discount (ie 1 import flash to 3 generation flashes means electricity at 25% of normal price).

Beware of smart meters that know how much is being exported, though they should demonstrate that it is above 66% normally, not 50% (as our government is desperate to claim to avoid climate change CO2 target fines?).

    Let us know your decision:D

Our night time rate is 6.26p, day rate 13.37p and a daily standing charge of 17.10p
I have been using an Eco Eye Elite (£19) to measure our use and the Sunny Beam shows our generation, they sit side by side, it has been very informative to see how the dishwasher load changes etc, it also showed me when I had left the immersion heater on by mistake.
I have just been debating with my husband whether we should go for a 1.5 or 2kw immersion heater, one takes longer but would come on at lower generartion levels. This morning I set the immersion timer to come on at 7.30 as we are on low rate until 8.40, we were generating approx 1.5 kWh. At the moment I am favouring the Wattson with a couple of Optiplugs.

    .

What hours are your eco 7 rates? I don't have an immersion heater but might be worth looking at swapping to E7 as we still "buy" about 6-10 kWhs(wife an 2 little kids), mainly in the eves and night. Actually isn't there still E10 rates or have they now gone forever?

    11kWh today. Or 2.75 O's

It depends on where you live and probably other factors. My E7 times are the old Seeboard times of 2230-0030 and 0230-0730 GMT (so an hour later during BST). This has remained the same through several changes of supplier as the clocks that do the switching are not controlled by the supplier.

Now, do I believe the forecast on my mobile phone which says it will be sunny for the next three days or the BBC, which says it will be cloudy?
BBC forecast 1, mobile phone forecast 0. Only brief appearances by the sun and 5.78 kWh.
