Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Achieved 97.4% of PVGIS estimate for November.

Not the worst November, but also not the best.
  • There's an article in the Mail today about families prepping for Brexit and one, in Cornwall, have had solar panels installed in the belief that this would provide them with electricity in times of power cuts. I thought this not to be the case, but have never tested it out. I thought you needed power to change the ac/dc bit so could someone explain please?

Hiya, you don't need power from the grid, as the PV is generating power/energy, but for safety reasons the inverter will shutdown if it sees that the grid has lost power.

This prevents any export which could be dangerous to workers, and would also probably cause all sorts of issues given the size of a domestic PV install, v's the local grid it's connected too.

However, there are inverters that can work with, or without the grid, commonly known as 'Islanding'. In the case of a power cut these would not export any leccy but would still provide power to batts and a separate circuit.

Also, many (most?) domestic battery offerings will have a way of providing power in a power cut, such as a simple AC socket into which you could plug say, lights, or a phone charger, torch charger etc etc to help deal with the situation.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Luckily, there is no Border on Power Lines that the EU can attempt to control. Project Fear continues, but the financial gain will prevail in respect of Power Supplies. 0.68 O's here and today:D..coffee.gif
