    LOL,

I bought a travel kettle to a bit more "greener" before my 2nd set of panels went on. Funny thing is,i'd been after a quiet kettle for about 2 years(2 young kids and open plan house). None of my previous kettles can come anywhere near as quiet as this. Its probably costing me more now in leccy though cos i never hear the damn thing click off so have to keep re-boiling it. :rotfl:

hi instead of travel kettle try looking up Superkettle runs on approx 700 watts and keeps water very near to boil at all times.

    Hi

That's a pretty energy inefficient way to heat the water .... firstly, it means that the kettle will initially be heating more water than necessary, then continually utilises energy to replace lost heat.

We used to have a double walled stainless-steel kettle which did something similar, boil the kettle on full ~3kW then press a button to keep the water 'very hot' .... a total waste of energy, I measured it with our plug-in energy monitor and the relative consumption just for keeping the water warm was rediculous ...

We now simply have two kettles, a low energy one which is mainly used on dull days and a standard ~3kW fastboil one which gets used at night or when you can't be bothered to wait for a cuppa ..... :D ..... however, whichever kettle is being used, only the required volume of water is heated ....

Been there, seen the error, mended my ways .... ;)
