The only way in which you could gain useful knowledge from a comparison of two different systems would be to compare each to its own pvgis forecast then decide how much better or worse than expected each is doing.

Nope! Wrong again. That would be a comparison of performance against target. On here people are comparing their systems performance against the systems of others. And having a little chat and joke, and seeing who came first, last or elsewhere.

The simple ratio of kWh/kWp was designed to compare outputs of different panels under identical test conditions and in that respect it does a sterling job. Extending that to comparing different panels under different conditions achieves nothing.

In your opinion. And whilst you are welcome to that opinion, I constantly come back to the same question - if you aren't interested in the comparisons/discussions of relative performance on here, then why do you comment so much on how we can't do, what we keep doing?

I got 3.49 Os today, so I note that I wasn't bottom for a change (having made some quick (and very easy) comparisons with others posts). If I'm wasting my time, then so be it, but at least I'm not wasting it telling people not to do what they are enjoying doing.

In that very restricted sense of 'compare' then you're right.

Give it up Eric, you are becoming a bit of a bore....deadhorsebeat_4.gif

Back to reality 3.4 O's today not good, but there you go....coffee.gif
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Another 6.2 Os today, which is really nice. OK, it's still generating about 10W but that won't make any difference.
