Generally insurers need some sort of proof of purchase. You normally get this from Ebay trade Sellers as opposed to private Sellers. Be careful I would suggest.0

as moneycheck says only if you have proof of purchaseWhat goes around-comes around0

The caveat is some firms require the 'original purchase invoice' and for this they mean not when you originally purchased it, but the first bill of sale for the handset. I agree it is hardly clear, but I am aware some insurers will not accept an eBay receipt as being a valid document. To be safe, you need to ask the question directly - and keep a copy of the reply if they say they will.0

I had a new SonyErricson smart phone which I lost in a taxi. On the Claim form (I had been paying £9+ per month for over 2 yrs at this point To LSG- Lifestyle Services Group) I stated quite correctly that "I had left it in a taxi". They failed to pay out as what I had said IMPLIED NEGLIGENCE!!!!!!!!!!!
How else do people usually, apart from theft, lose anything, Negligence.
Nokia/3 network use LSG all of the time so read the small print. If I had said "the last time I saw my phone was in a taxi", they would have paid me.:mad:0
