    Google ' Invitation to treat'.

That said, I puchased a watch from Ernest Jones for my wife and when I went to pay for it, I was quoted £200.00 more than that was shown on the price ticket.

It was a genuine mistake and I declined the purchase, however, I received a letter from their head office inviting me to return to the shop and purchase the watch at the displayed price - which I did.

They were not legally obliged to do that, but was a fantastic gesture on behalf of Ernest Jones.

I was just providing an example of when a company has honoured an incorrectly priced item and informing people who may not know that a retailer does not have to honour the price of an item that has been marked up incorrectly - but I suppose everyone knew that didn't they?

If they have advertised it at that price, they are obliged to sell it to you.
