Orange Cancel - Help

My orange contract is coming to end in a month. I want to move to Payg and I spoke to Orange they mentioned there is no charges, but it will take 30 days to get my PAYG sim and I can also retain my number.

Can anyone confirm if they have moved from contract to PAYG and is there any other details I need to get confirmed with Orange?.

There is no problem. I have done this several times with Orange. About 5 days before your contract is up they send you a PAYG SIM card.

You *must* ring up to register the SIM and to have your phone number transferred. It is this action that closed the previous contract.

Thanks. I understand once the contract is up, the orange number gets disconnected. So how does number get transferred?.
