I'm so very pleased this has been sorted out. Pity it still took them eight weeks. Be sure that his acceptance of the offer is sent and it might be sensible to also check that the PPI is cancelled so no future payments are taken.
Well done for taking the time to help him0 -
Brilliant news :j:j:j:j glad to have helped you, make sure the PPI is cancelled as moneyineptitude said.
You are a really nice person going to the trouble of helping someone who is vulnerable :A makes a change to see this, in this day and age.
Just shows, where there's a will and MSE there's a way :rotfl::T:T0 -
I have got the Letter with no Date on it only Our Ref xxxxx to May 2012 and the Acceptance Slip which states xxxxx outlined in your letter dated 16 May 2012 which it wasnt - but that top copy had no date only our Ref etc as per my first line here.
The Breakdown is Premiums = £736.00 - 8% simple interest £231.72 - therefore Total £967.72
Does this Letter with no Date on it only the Our Ref xxx to May mean that the Premium Taken on 1st May is not included ? I will phone on Monday to check, also ask how long after receipt of acceptance will money arrive - I will phone the Bank before 1st June so they dont take June Premium.
On the Tax I have explained he only has to pay on the Interest and will be phoning HMRC Monday to find out if he has to pay now or wait to see if still under Personal Allowance at end of Tax Year.
If end of Year I will advise he removes about £65 and puts it in another Account until paying Tax end of year - Is that a good idea?
He is really Bouncing now - HB and CTB has settled down and is doing extra hours - Just need to get Contract 18 Hours increased if possible to 30 to Qualify for over 50 age WT Credits.
He is walking round with a big grin and it is getting wider by the day !!!
Thanks for your help and compliments
- I really enjoy mixing it with Big Business when people really cant do it themselves and are not just too lazy. Both of you
Will update after Monday phone calls. xxxx0 -
Update after phoning Monday
Barclays PPI Dept.: Yes the May Premium already removed is taken into account when the Refund actually arrives in his Account, but as this may be close to the 1st June Premium date the lady advised phoning Dublin, Policy Admin Dept ASAP to cancel the June removal and if it still is removed to send a Letter to get it Refunded. Acceptance signed and taken to PO for Recorded Delivery when he left after our phoning.
Tax Office: Eventually got through to a Help Line Cust.Service Lady, she said that as he is Low Wages and the Payroll Dept has only recently got his Tax properly sorted - if he paid the Tax due the Tax Office would have to send change of Tax Code and it would be better not to rock the boat with his Rubbish Payroll Dept. - and to wait until the end of the Tax Year to see if he has used all his Personal Allowance - then Declare it. She thought it was a good idea to put say £60 into a Savings Account untill paying. She made the Tax due on the 8% amount only £46. ?? £10 less than me
Incidently on the Main Menu a Message it said that people waiting for Tax Refunds will need to wait an extra 3 to 4 weeks more than normal because of a Backlog.
I have put this info. on here so you can let people know that Tax Refunds are taking a bit longer this year.
His Smile will soon be too wide to get in the door, especially now I have sorted our these last 2 questions.
:D:D
Will post when the Money actually lands
Thanks :T:T:T :j:j:j0
