I am helping a Neighbour to reclaim a mis-sold PPI on his O/Draft - He is a Vunerable Adult and I will post the full story in a later post.

The stage I have got to is - Filled out Barclays Questionaire Form and printed off 2 copies - One is Signed and ready to go - with Documents Photocopies of Month July 2003 printout Before Start date 13th Aug 2003 as found by Barclays Dublin, August and Sept 2003 showing 1st payment and Feb 2012 showing He is still paying £8 month Premium. I want to post Recorded this Friday.

My question is have I missed anything and is Barclays PPI Reclaim Dept still Barclays PPI Dept, Leicester, LE87 2BB
Do I have to put Reclaim anywhere in the Address ?
Thanks for any advice

Hi amersall

I am back on PPI track and I think ready to go ? after having to sort out His HB and CTB and New Job and JCP mess.

Should I also enclose a letter explaining about him being a Vunerable Adult and that I have put on the Form exactly as he explained, and that I phsyically have accessed and printed the Form, also that my name is officially attached to his Account. Explained para below.

Since we last had contact I now have had a 3 way as Barclays call it set up on his Account so I can access and make sure he is managing it correctly now - so my name is connected to his Account. As he says I know more about his problems that he does now.

I havent done the Form as someone doing it for him - but wondered if I should enclose a letter explaining - he didnt want me to put Vunerable Adult anywhere (Sensative) but have indicated several times by wording about not understanding Bank things and on The Sales Phone call - reading off Advantages too fast for him to keep up.

Thanks for your help in the past

On Barclay's website it says that the address to write to is printed on the form. Do you have Barclay's own form filled out or the more general consumer questionnaire?
  • Hi moneyineptitude

Yes I got the Form off the Barclays Site and this was the address on the site - nothing is printed on the Form only "send your complaint to the financial business you are complaining about - and I copied the above address from there also - sometimes Web Sites are out of date - guess I'll send it to to Leicester

Do you think I should enclose a letter as explained to amersall because they might think He cant be that vunerable if he can do this - but he is, things have be explained very carefully (doesnt always connect all the dots ) and doesnt admit that not understood properly only to people that he trusts, not to Joe Public. I put on the Form what he explained happened with a few tweeks and he has no access to a PC and doesnt know how to use one properly.

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, the more information about his condition you provide in the cover letter the better. It's a bit unfortunate that he insisted you didn't bring attention to the fact that he's a vulnerable adult in the actual consumer questionnaire. Explain this also in the cover letter.
I assume you've put your own details as complaining on his behalf? This in itself will help the bank to make the hopefully correct decision in his favour.

:D You are very welcome :D nice to have you back x.
The address is correct you do not need to put reclaim on, you could pop a letter in and explain that you are helping him and why you are helping him, this man should not have been treated this way when he was not aware of what was happening, put that you have permission to deal with his accounts and the claim.

Hope you get good news for your friend :D let me know if you need anymore help x.
  • Hi amersall

Thanks for picking this up - I thought I should do a letter - I havent done the form as "Doing it on his behalf" Officially - I am mentioned on the Form as a Neighbour has been helping sort his Account Problems etc.

As there is a (3 way ) set up at local Branch connecting my Account to his with all the Security etc. so that I can Phone on my Code and look at His Account to make sure he doesnt make mistakes - he now knows Dates of Interest Charge and PPI Premium so will make sure well covered etc. I can look and check, so all my details etc and Account are linked.

As I said in first Post I will Post the background so others can get the line of His Story.

Thanks amersall very pleased to see you xxx

Thanks moneyineptitude for your advice. :D:D

I am going to do the letter now to post Friday -
  • Just finished doing the letter with Form etc to Recorded post Friday - I have asked that no knowledge of the Letter is given to XXXXX because he might think I had broken his Trust -I will tell him that I have enclosed a letter to explain that I had sourced the Process and relavant Documents but typed what he said - I have also let them know of the 3 way Authority at Local/xxxx Branch if they wanted more info. for My Security.
As He said when I had to put his Mobile No. on Form - no good them phoning him - doesnt understand any of it.

Also told of the 2 named Staff Members of Staff - one at Local Branch and one in Dublin had gone the extra mile and that I had marked their Records with my appreciation.

Its just fingers and everything crossed for 8 weeks ;)

    Thanks again Both

If this takes eight weeks, there really is no justice in the world!
I've never seen any mis-selling so blatant
  • Thanks moneyineptitude for your supporting opinion I thought he had a very good case but I didnt tell him that in case I got his hopes up - I just said lets send and wait - I originally worked out at £8.64 he would have £918 or there abouts which would have nearly wiped out his O/D but found on the 2003 statements it showed that the O/D PPI was £4 for £500 O/D and he cant remember when it went to £1000.

On the Form where I had said in the Draft "The Premium of £8 seemed reasonable" I removed the of £8 in the sent copy. I dont know if they will refund £8.64 all the way back or look at when it changed.

I think I read somewhere that with smaller amount £200 compensation was included but dont know if that is fact of fiction.

    Hi amersall and moneyineptitude

I'm back - had a note in my door when I got back from shopping Friday AM - Yippee HE'S GOT IT :j

He got £957.72p for 104 months PPI on £1,000 O/D

He asked my to pop in Sat am. to look at the Form ? - I have done some rough sums taking off 8% from the Total and it looks to me that they have given £8 Premium back to Sept.2003 although at the beginning he had £500 O/D so only £4 Premium. Will know more after Sat.

I had to go to Town Thurs. so called in at Barclays to get March and April Statements - I kept forgetting to remind him to ask for them - I also queried why none were coming by post - he will now.

I looked at the 2 latest Statements and Boy will he get a surprise - perhaps a good thing that he didnt see them before - Quess what he has really listened to my advice to only get out what and when he needs cash - now he has got the ATM Card back can do this - He has reduced his O/D to about £300 so far this month :D I will show him Sat

I was mainly looking for when that Temp Agency was paying what they short-changed his Pay by a 6 hour Nightshift - and Guess What they have done it again - only paid Basic instead of Nightshift and didnt pay in March when supposed to - Paid 4th May

I will PM you Both in case you miss this Post

All our Thanks Both :A
