Think I can claim - but not sure...

Hi all
Ok, I've read through most of the reclaiming guides and I think I might have a possible claim, but not 100% sure.
So, I had a couple of loans that I paid off years ago (about 4/5 years ago) that I think I had PPI on. Don't have any of the paperwork on them any more. One with Egg (who I have no accounts with at all now), one with Natwest (where I still have my main account).
What are my options? How should I proceed? Do I just phone them up and ask?
Any advice welcome.

Do I need to have reasons in my head why I believe I might have a claim? My reasons would be that I didn't really need it, and thought I needed it to get the loan.0

Yes. There is nothing wrong with having PPI. So, a complaint about having PPI is an easy rejection. You need to have reasons for complaint. My reasons would be that I didn't really need it
So, this would indicate that you believe you had 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay. If that is the case, you state that and be prepared to provide evidence to support that (some ask for evidence). If that is not the case, then why do you think you didnt need it?and thought I needed it to get the loan.

Hi,
Have just read this, when I applied for my loan the impression was given that I needed the PPI to obtain the loan. Also I had been employed for 7yrs by the organisation that I still work for - 12yrs now - who provide 6mths at full and 6mths at half pay however I was never asked about this by the person selling the loan. Do you think that I would have grounds to claim?0 -
You can complain with those reasons. Do it now. The most you stand to lose is the price of some stamps.Have just read this, when I applied for my loan the impression was given that I needed the PPI to obtain the loan. The 6/6 sicness pay is the strong point. The length of time with employer is irrelevant. Any employer can shut down and make you redundant. The impression you had is an unprovable allegation (may be true. May not be but strong evidenced complaints work best). Single premium PPI with interest is a common one for loans as well.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks for the advice chaps.
I have no idea what the company's policy was to be honest. However, I was employed and had been for several years, and was in no threat of not being. Additionally, I was renting, and not a homeowner - if that makes any difference to anything...
So, first steps then? I have none of the documentation, loan account numbers etc. So, should I just call them, and ask them for details of the loans that I think I had PPI on (remember I'm not 100% sure I had it, but think I probably did).0 -

So, to answer this then - is my first step to call the loan providers?0
