Yes, but you still have to pay the £80 up front. The £25 is for the following year.

The one I was looking included the fee - £141.67 + VAT + £80 = £250.

Sorry to hijack, but how can I retain a plate that is on a car I bought recently? It isn't one that has been transferred or anything. Just a 2010 one I like.

You don't need to do anything until you come to sell the car. Then you apply to transfer the number to the new vehicle you are buying. I think the cost is still £80. Only thing to remember is you can't transfer a number to a car older than the reg, ie you can't put an 09 reg on a 2005 vehicle.

Simples.

That's great, Thanks. I won't be selling for a few years yet though. Hope the price doesn't go up too much!
