You complain to whoever sold it to you, not the finance provider (unless the person who sold it to you worked for them)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • i too had a loan with first national ,car dealership sold me a loan on a van with ppi saying you stand a better chance of getting a loan ! knowing i was self employed it was of no use to me at all trying to get my ppi back now think it was around 2003--- 2004 so who do i claim off ? dealership and sales person ,or lender thats changed its name ?
    any info welcome thanks
  • You need to complain to whoever sold you the PPI.

PPI normally covered the self employed, so check before you use that as your complaint reason.

Car dealers weren't regulated prior to 2005, so the dealer you complain to won't have to consider your complaint I'm afraid. Also, don't just assume that being self employed excluded you from claiming on the insurance.

Hi everyone who has responded to this query re. First National. I was sold a loan by Anglian Home improvements in July 2005 covered by First National insurance. I complained to Anglian about this many moons ago before all the publicity re PPi and at the time 2012 they said GE money was responsible and last month when I contacted Anglian they said they were not prepared to look into the case or give the Ombudsman permission to do so as was outside the 6 month period to complain.
I feel with this kind of 3 party involvement no one wants to take responsible for any PPi payment due and I want to avoid using a Claims company.

Since your complaint has been already over since 2012, you don't have the option of using a Claim Company (or any other complaint route).

    Sorry.
