Help - Motorola Razr Subsidy Code?!

Hello folks.

A quick query, my contract sim has stopped working randomly, have got to ring and order a replacement. Only problem is I need to be contactable. I have a crappy Motorola Razr that is supposedly locked to t-mobile but works with my virgin contract sim. So I assumed it would work with orange and just went and bought an Orange Pay as you go sim. Put the sim in and its asking for a Subsidy code. Is there anyway I can obtain this subsidy code so I can put the orange pay as you go sim in? I've heard it is IMEI specific - is this true?

Need advice asap folks.

Thanks in advance.

Virgin piggy backs on Tmobile which is why the Sim worked, and yes it's IMEI specific.

There a few Options, call TMobile and ask, they should be able to give it to you but may take a while.

Take it to a market stall who can unlock it with a laptop

Use an online code generator to get the code

Buy a TMobile or Virgin sim and use that in the phone..

It's weird, when my virgin sim was in I could jump on the orange network no problem, hence why I thought it would work!

Orange and T Mobile have merged so you can jump between networks if the sim card allows it, but thats like roaming if you go out of the UK.

The phone is old and will not know this merger happened so the firmware treats them as seperate networks and hence the need to onlock it to put a Orange sim card in as the phone things it's another networks to the pone it should be on.

Not sure that makes it clearer to be honest.

    No no, I understand!
Guess I'll just have to do something else then. Im not paying for it to be unlocked when It will probably only be 3 days to get a new sim.
