Jayne, go on the Debt-free wannabee board here on MSE, and post your SOA - your statement of affairs. They are great at helping cut down on bills and producing a few quid here and there in your budget.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

its worth applying for housing council tax benefit.
your gas and electric prices are ridiculous .... switch for a better deal
your shopping bill is very high for 5 of you considering that 2 are really no more than babies
buying vodka is pathetic... especially considering that youre pregnant
stop the snool dinners and make a packed lunch
the dogs should be rehomed ... if youre struggling to pay the bills and feed the kids, then the dogs cant be affordrd
my landline and boradband and 24/7 landline calls is £24.80 a month, again you need to shop around.

if you have a 2 year old, surely you still have the essential baby stuff.

and i take offence at your statement that 'not got a bit of help' .... what is the £155 tax credits plus nearly £200 a month in child benefit!

i'm really annoyed right now. youve chosen to have all your children and i'm sure theyre well loved and well taken care of.

but bleating and whinging about benefits being cut while you continue to have more kids is incredibly frustrating to those of us who had the families we could afford!

can't cope on £32,354 per year! wow. I know families of 5 that are coping on £22k per year with similar rent.

you need to be cooking from scratch, padding out meals with veg and pulses, meal planning and cutting that food bill right down. I could feed your family on £200 a month quite easily.

Have you considered cloth nappies? doing away with baby wipes and using fleece squares will save you a fortune, they are way more effective at cleaning dirty bums, faces, hands etc. Cloth nappies will have an initial outlay but will save you a fortune as you have a 2yr old prob still in nappies and a new baby on the way.

It wouldn't take much to sort out your family finances by making small adjustments.

I too get frustrated when people choose to have more children then come crying that they are not getting enough benefit to support them. Most of my friends have taken the decision to stop at 2 children, max 3 not because they didn't want more children, but because they knew if they did, they would find in that exact same situation, wondering how they would support them all. They have done the same calculations, that if they worked, by the time they had paid for childcare, they would be no better off, so they listen to the voice of reason and accepted that they were very lucky to have 2 children in the first place.

The only families I know who have more than 3 children are those who can afford them without relying on tax credits, one family have 5 children and rely solely on the very good salary of the father, but before they went on to have more than 2, they took some time to pay the mortgage off. The other two families that come to mind, the mother also works earning a decent wage and they pay for a nanny who deals with all the transporting to and from school/activities.

People want their cake and eat it, assume that is their right to have more children regardless of how they are financed. I would have loved to have more children than my two. I love being a mum and I do certainly a better job bringing them up then performing at my job, but we have made a choice that the financial sacrifices would have been too much. Sometimes I feel aggrieved that the economy is such that we had to make that choice, but that's how it is, you have to live with the choices you've made in life, to have kids before finishing studying, before gaining a decent career, and to continue to have more. It comes with great pleasures, but with sacrifices too and rightly so.
