I don't disagree with that, I was pointing out that a default or a CCJ only stay on your credit file for 6 years from when they originated - NOT when they were settled.Thrugelmir wrote: »A Court Court Judgement can be settled in installments over an extended period of time. So a lender will continue to record the account as being in default until such time as the account is settled.
Individual lenders will maintain records of CCJ's that are never satisfactorily settled.
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about this around and different sources give different information. What I've posted above is the most reliable information I could find - if you a better/different source please point me at it
