Is it possible to get into uni/college with lower than expected grades?

Say for instance you needed a C and u was like 3 marks off.

I am revising best I can but am scared I might only get a D in maths but I will try my honest best.

Do colleges ever consider merit as well as grades?

Are you talking about university entrance through UCAS? If you are then the university can decide to let you onto the course with lower grades if there are places to be filled once results come out (rather than the place going into clearing).

Once you have done your exams, if you are still worried then start making plans for what you will do if you don't get a place and be ready to look at clearing. Is your insurance offer also a C?

On results day, try to get your results as early as possible, and take the phone number for your university admissions department with you. If you haven't got the the offer grade, then ring as early in the day as you can, because if they have 5 (for example) extra places they could all be gone before you contact them if you leave it late.

Depends, if it is a popular course and they can find enough people that make the grade then you probably won't get a look-in.

If it is a poorly subscribed course then the may be willing to lower their criteria to attempt to fill it.

A c grade in maths is minimum. If you can't manage that then you'd never cope with making drug calculations in an emergency situation. Peoples lives depend in it.

well then from tommorow ill do 4 hour revision a day atleast. concentrating mainly on maths science n english only need a brush.

yeh but if I could get onto the access course I could take maths for 1 more year to hit the C as in having to take 2 years.

You do Maths on an Access Course anyway don't you?... at least all the Access Courses in my college did.

Lots of Access courses don't include English and Maths and students who need to do them have to fit them in around the main course.

How about you speak to your tutor about your fears? It may be that they can assist you in going over some past papers. That will make a big difference.
