OP, there's no 'holiday' entitlement, but you can go away from home and continue to be entitled to JSA providing you continue to meet availability conditions

Many thanks. I will go for the mid week break will still be available for any interviews because I am only an hour away. However, I will not rock the boat by telling the JC in case it complicates things.:)

21741 Claimants can be treated as ASE in any week where they have given notice to an
    Emp O that they
    1. do not intend to be ASE and
    2. intend to reside at a place other than their usual place of residence for at least
    one day.
The claimants notice to the Emp O must be in writing if the Emp O asks for written
    notice

Obviously not relevant if you intend to seek work whilst away
  • You should, by rights, tell the JC that you're going on holiday and defiantly if you miss your signing on day, they will make allowances for this.
However, if you are still able to meet the requirements you've agreed to and you are able to get back should an interview come up you should not lose any benefits.
And of course you could still look for work while away, pubs, clubs, cafe's....

  • You are entitled to claim whilst on holiday within the UK. I went away last years august bank holiday for 4 days and all I had to do was sign a form to say that I was in the UK and able to return for interview if required. you state how you can look for jobs whilst away, easy, internet!

Ultimatedingbat is correct - you can have a holiday in this country when on JSA, but you must tell the JC. It was explained to my daughter when she was on JSA for a short time. She was told that if you are still in this country, potential employers can contact you (obviously if you have submitted an application form or CV) and it is relatively easy to return home for an interview if you are offereed one. You can't do that when you are abroad, as there are usually flight bookings to consider.

Also, in this country, you can still be seeking work.
