Use BG Landlords cover to solve (hopefully) boiler leak and also sink leak found when tenant moved out - not really free but as I pay for it best use it and not a plumber who will charge me more!

Aside from that and spending £2k on getting the house back to standard from scumbag tenant I am spending nothing.

Food from stores, need to check bank accounts as in the process of changing over and it needs monitoring - both personal and joint account - I ask you why make my life easy - ever?

Thanks brizzle - money isnt the problem on my side, TBH. I can afford it, its just a question of whether its OTT or in poor form to give a gift that is out of his price range, IYSWIM?

Pernie, just realized its a bit tough to see the poem link in my first post, did you catch it?

Holy cripes, Misslr, sounds like a tenant from hell!! good luck with the insurers.

    Morning all.`

Trying for a low spend day today.
Applying for a temp promotion in work, might bring in some money which will go in the emergency savings pot. (if I get the job, of course).
    Check Onepoll
Check bank (transfer any loose change to the my savings account).
    Heating now off overnight.
Waiting for there to be a full load before washing.

    Hi everyone,

I didn't get that job I went for. Got back all the usual feedback about being a strong candidate but another candidate had more relevant experience, how it was a tough decision blah blah blah and how I should stay in touch about future vacancies etc. Oh well, I was getting a bit stressed about how busy April was going to be for me so at least that's one thing off my mind for now. Will see what payrise they offer me here and decide whether to start looking again come May/June time. Nothing lost by applying and trying my luck - I got a bit of interview experience and it helped me realise what I'd miss about not working here - more holidays, less hours per week, better office location, 10 half days leave through flexitime a year, dress down days, free bar nights, free tea and a proper coffee pot, free sparkling water…It is the small things that make all the difference after all! :)

    Here's me today:
    - Checked banking
    - Used bus ticket - £9 ticket saving me £10 in taxis over the weekend ;)
    - Bought only the toiletries I need!
    - Yoga coursework to keep me out of trouble :p
    - Renewed library books online - no late fees for me
    - Decided I'm going to half any birthday money I get and put it towards highest interest card - will be a nice bday pressie to myself :T
    - Check for a survey after work that I saw in my inbox - hope I'm not too late when I get home - £3 into paypal :T
    - Got £6 refund - saw a voucher code after I ordered mum's bday pressie - emailed to ask if it was too late to use it or how I could cancel and reorder and they refunded me :j

NTBY - Zanzibar sounds amazing!!! Well jell! Also, that's the poem we had at our wedding :)

NTBY - I saw the link thanks but in my rush this morning didn't read it! It's on my to do list, thank you :) I remember you were living together already which made it difficult to judge how serious you guys are, but after some thought I think you should go for it. My OH took me to Prague for my birthday not long after we got together (weeks!!) & I wasn't offended, just blown over with how lucky I am! I might not be the best person to advise though as our whole relationship moved quite quickly.

If you're really worried maybe just briefly mention taking him away somewhere for his birthday as it's a special one & see how he reacts. Good luck xx

La Escocesa - Sorry you didn't get the job but at least you're looking on the bright side. I like to think these things happen for a reason so you're either better off where you are or something better is just waiting round the corner :)

Just want to report a little victory - got EDF to refund me £20 as I've spent so much time sorting out a mistake they made in the first place! Woo!

Then I bought some garlic bread, which counts as my least DFW act of the day. Oops?
