Tuesday 13th March - What small DFW things will you be doing today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
can we escape the double thread trap? in the danger zone...
For some reason cant get the colours to work - sorry guys!
Pernie - the poem my friend read is I carry your heart with me: http://allpoetry.com/poem/8494123-i_carry_your_heart_with_me-by-E._E._Cummings Its so beautiful I want to cry even just reading it silently.
Yesterday didnt end up being an NSD as some colleagues were in town so we had them over for dinner and I needed to buy ingredients. Tonight having dinner at a mate's place so a bit more MSE at least.
Considering buying tickets to Zanzibar for boy for his birthday in May - do people think that would be totally OTT? He's had a massively stressful year, its a big birthday (30) and we've never been away together (except for sad family occasions), and tickets are about £230 each. His birthday is before mine so i dont get to see his cards on what he thinks is a reasonable amount to spend on pressies! I dont want him to feel like he needs to reciprocate with an expensive present for me, but I do want to get away for a bit.
Anyway, today:
- Bike everywhere i need to go
- Sort some things for business
- breakfast from stores, lunch provided by work
- tea at friends, may have to pick up a bottle
- work hard at the office as loads on
- charge phone at work
- fill new cheapo MP3 player with music from roommie's computer
Have a good Tuesday, all!

Pernie - we've been together 8 months, living together for all of it (we were flatmates before, for those who remember). So relatively serious but not exacting reading each other e e cummings poems yet

Part of the reason I'd like to go for it is that he's had a shockingly awful year - started with a nasty break up, then his father dying suddenly and young, massive family fall out around the estate, lots of stress around his work, depression, etc etc. If anyone ever needed a holiday...
With my ex we used to do short breaks as gifts for every birthday / xmas - not big ones but breaks in the UK, not far abroad etc. Its sometimes hard to tell whether things are normal for everyone or were just normal for us, so really appreciating the other opinions!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000

Hi all
Can't seem to get the quotes working but can I echo this one from zig? Stitchy & Josie - Miss you
Hope you're both OK. Know you were saying things are tough
NTBY - sounds a lovely idea and good price (well I know you're a lot closer but even so..) If you can afford it I would do it...but in my book its all the extras around a holiday that mount up and makes it actually then unaffordable - you know, cheap city breaks for a weekend that end up costing 000s..so I now avoid them!! (oh and the kids help too!:rotfl:)
How about as a compromise trying to fleabay or make other income (you said you work in health but maybe they are other options for a temporary second job?) instead to pay (or at least pay for part) of it?
Today I will/have:
- keep heating off (but it was cool :eek:this morning..not a great start as I went back to bed for 30 mins as a result!)
- ask OH to start making a start on reclaiming:o/decluttering the toy room and re-cement the firebrick at back of stove..we will need this if the heating is off and it turns parky again
- made a PAD and checked online banking
-have a NSD..well thats the plan!!
Cheers
