Cheapest smartphone with GPS + WiFi

Hey!

Does anyone know what's currently the cheapest smartphone on the market with GPS and WIFI? I'm going on a big trip, and I need maps + internet access, and I also don't want to buy an expensive one, as there is possibily that I might lose it. I NEED a good battery life though, everything else is irrelevant.

I'm good to pay around £100 for a new or refurbished one.

Thanks!

    Trip where?
Does it have to be unlocked?
The cheapest I know is £40+£10: which mobile?
Also SE Xperia X8 for the same price, but on '3' only: http://www.e2save.com/mobile-phone/payg/sony%20ericsson/Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-X8-refurbished.html?tariffcode=E3PAY15TOP&PHPSESSID=4gbkfspau7693kd299al2ibu32&affiliate=aw47868#

Trip across USA. I don't really need it unlocked, I'll just use roaming. I just need the name of the model, I'll find the phone myself. I'm bad at phones, that's all.

Thanks, that was helpful. Xperia X8 doesn't qualify, as it has a terrible battery life, as I've heard. I need something that will last at least 3 days while being for GPS. Any thoughts?

I can't post links, but would Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 for £120 REFURBISHED on O2 be a good deal?

Also, will I be able to use 3G when phone is with O2 (or other UK network) but I'm in States myself.

When using GPS or wifi the battery life will be reduced somewhat from the quoted figures. Roaming is likely to cost you more than the handset price (and even the cost of the flight).
If when you do get a handset I would suggest opting for a pre installed map selection as the one off installation cost will work out much cheaper in the long run.

So I should unlock the handset then and use USA's mobile provider instead?

Is that map selection just like an app - pay, download, install?

The default google maps&navigation for Android smartphones requires data connection. You need an unlocked phone to use a local sim. There are various other satnav apps (free and not free) that don't need data connection:
    Copilot
    Navfree
    ...

Galaxy Ace, even on O2, is likely to be unlocked if bought from CPW/e2save/osps/mobiles.co.uk or p4u/d-a-p. Orange San Francisco 2 and T-mobile Vivacity cost about £100 and have a better screen, but require unlocking and it is not very straightforward.

AFAIK, Nokia phones have maps built in that work without data connection.

My first thought is that no mobile will do this. Not a single one will last for even a day while being used as a GPS unit - if I was to use mine (Galaxy Note) I suspect I'd be lucky to get 4 hours from it.

Get spare batteries. Pretty cheap on e-bay for most phones.

! Doh! posted on an old thread.
