Bad Reaction to Sanctuary Body lotion

I've been using this product and found it gives me a sort of burning sensation after I apply it, to certain areas of my body - my thighs for example. I mentioned this to my sister who said she accidentally got some up her nose (!) and felt a burning type sensation.
Then tonight, I put some on my neck and came up in a stinging red rash - I washed it off and it quickly went down. I do have very sensitve skin, but am gutted as I love Sanctuary (and have loads of it hoarded away!) I've not had problems with any other of their products - shower gel, perfume etc - it's just the body lotion in the tall container - has anyone else?

Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

This is just bad luck and is probably more to do with you than the product.
In your position I would either gift it or sell it on eBay.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

i had the same thing. It felt like my skin was on fire. I don't have sensitive skin. I thought it might be because it had ginger or something like that in itFinally debt free, all thanks to this site and all the posters:j0 -
I have sensitve skin and can't use some of the Sanctuary products.
Dove is awful too - can't use any of their products (even deordorant etc).
The other brand I find bad is Avon - it can be far too harsh.
It's just hit and miss, finding what does/doesn't work."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Is it this one?

If it is you will find it is supposed to make your skin warm & tingly, must admit though first time I used it felt like I had covered myself in deep heat0 -

Yes that is it - just read the information and never knew that about it!
Think I'll try the body butter instead then (must read the information first) as I have a few of those stashed away tooand move the lotions into the gift pile....secret santa perhaps!!! It doesn't seem to sell well on ebay, I already had a quick look at that :T:T

Maybe phone up Boots or Sanctury and ask- it could be its supposed to happen like Miss Poppy has already said. I noticed one of the key ingredients in the product is ginger root and that will make things warm. I'd not be suprized if a warm feeling was what was desired.
If your skin becomes too red or painful or itchy then its got to go back- if your normally find with Sanctury it does sound like you bought a dud and they just added in too much ginger- its important they know because theres a risk others could use it on more sensitive areas or worse: on more sensitive people (eg children). I'd call them anyway just to see if they have any suggestions- they being skincare experts and who knows they could decide it is their fault and offer you a refund.0 -
Jenniewb, that is a good point, I guess I should contact them...not sure how, but probably an address on a bottle somewhere and I'll have to send a snail mail....which will never happen....Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

I can't use that body lotion either as it gives me a rash and definitely doesn't feel pleasantly warming! I just assumed it was the ginger I was reacting to.0

OK I've found an email and contacted them. Only right they should konw their customer feedback and it's really not clear from the packaging to expect such a reaction. Ugh, now to put the other bottles in the Charity shop box.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
