They might pretend they don't have liabilty but they do, it is always worth persevering with them and insisting on a refund.

Yep...it is only some of the lesser used cards in the Uk that do not automatically have liability like American Express and some of the more obscure Mastercards. Martin has a post about it somewhere, but I can't find it..

The CC companies don't quite understand how paypal works so believe they can refuse liability. However, the defining fact is that your card statement shows both paypal and the name of the seller..which means that paypal pass the payment on directly and don't put the funds into their own pot first as some other online merchants do.

I know that other people like Citizens Advice but ever since they gave me some legal advice some years ago that was so wrong and so bad I have never trusted them again.

Yes Paypal ChargeBack Was Impossible Using A LloydsTsb Credit Card.

That why I never really trust Ebay Sellers even the Business Ones when things go wrong for peace of mind.

Just ouT of interest Heidy why did you lose the paypal chargeback? If you were claiming item not received and the seller could not show delivery you would have had an automatic win?

If you won the chargeback, as you should have done but seller was not offering paypal protection, then your credit card company is even easier to approach as you can prove that paypal agree you were scammed, but could not get the money back...leaving it up to the CC company to do so.
