Returned Goods - Wont Refund Me - Can Anyone Give Advise

In November 06 I purchased a digital photo viewer for a Xmas present. This unit was found to be faulty and after numerous emails I eventually managed to receive a returns address for the goods. I duly sent it back, requesting a replacement. This arrived and did not function at all. This time I returned the goods (recorded del) asking for a refund. I have not had any refund or reply to the emails I have sent to the seller. Ebay are no help, simply stating that their 60 day guarantee has expired. Paypal were similarly useless.
The seller resides in Ireland and I am in England, so it is not a situation where I can easily go and see them face to face.
I know this is not exactly a money saving issue, but I was hoping that somebody may be able to advise what would be the best course of action to take to try and recover my money.
Thanks.

Rob

Did you pay by credit card?

If so, your credit card company might be able to help.
  • Thanks - sadly I used Paypal
  • The returns address was to a private individual, although his feedback suggests he sells a large amount of goods.
  • But was paypal linked to your credit card ??? If yes then you can claim through your credit card,if it was paid for by funds in your paypal account thats different

You are stuffed, unless seller is going to refund voluntarily. Put it down to experience. Remember in future log a dispute with Paypal. Best to get a cc and use that to fund any purchases via Paypal.

I'm sorry I can't add any better suggestions. Any paypal protection would lapse after 45 days, and some less than scrupulous sellers will often try and hang out things until the last possible moment to let that time limit lapse.

When buying from ebay it is worth rememebring that it is 'buyer beware' and always a good idea to test things thoroughly whilst still in the 45 day time frame.

Have you tried asking for a replacement?
