Problem with Panasonic Lumix DMC-TX10 camera SD card slot

The camera is about 14 months old, and suddenly has started causing problem with its SD-card slot. It would not retain the memory card, the card springs out and would not stay put. The camera is otherwise ok, switched on it just cannot detect the SD card inside. Not been abused or forced in at all. Bought from Amazon UK November 2010. The Panasonic service centre does not want to know, wants £40+vat+parts cost for it. Any ideas please?
Sorry it is TZ10, not TX.

Have you tried holding it in with blu tack or something?0

I am not sure that will do, even if I try to pack it with a folded paper, it does not seem to work!0

then it seems like the only option is to get it fixed. Have you tried taking into a camera shop like Jessops, and see what they say? Have you googled the problem to see if it's a common one? Are you absolutely sure it wasn't forced, or jammed in. Is there a clip to hold it in, or is it just a spring mechanism? push in and it holds, push in again to eject? Do you eject the card a lot? Was it bought from Amazon direct itself, or was it purchased through an Amazon marketplace seller? If it was from Amazon direct, you could contact them regarding it, see what they say,
14 months old doesn't really seem to fall into the category of fit for purpose for a reasonable time. I would expect a camera to last far longer before breaking down in that way. It's pretty much integral to the camera use.0 -
It was not at all forced, I am absolutely sure about it. May try Jessops. Could not find similar issues, tried googling it. It should be push in push out, worked perfectly till yesterday. SD card works fine elsewhere. I just took the card out and copied to computer, now the camera would not hold the card in. There is a hinged door covering both the battery and the card, but that does not seem to have anything to do with it. I tried jamming the card with some folded paper, but the camera does not recognise any card in the slot.
By the way I bought from Amazon UK direct, may be will give them a try.0
