Nokia N73 & TomTom Nav 6 help PLEASE
Options
Hi
I really hope you can help me.
I have just upgraded my phone to a Nokia N73 and have purchased tomtom navigator 6 on mini SD card. Both arrived on Tuesday and the tomtom installed beautifully.
BUT !! I have a 2gb mini sd with my music etc on and don't want to be swapping and changing cards all the time, so I used nokia pc suite to back up the tomtom card and then restored to my new [empty] card.
The restore went fine and the log confirmed this. However, although I know tomtom is there I can't locate the icon anywhere on my phone and therefore can't launch it
Any ideas?
TIA

Hi Drahcir
Can't see anything called 'my own' or similar, but I have just had the sense to check file manager and it is there, but i still can't see the 'launch' icon, it's all the data files etc0 -
Sorry to bump this, but I still haven't worked it out and really need any help you can offer0

The Tomtom on the card maybe software protected and won’t run on anything other than the card it comes on (or you could but one and copy it to all your friends phones).
But, is the Tomtom card named something ? (like tomtom’ perhaps ?) if it is you could try renaming the 2 gig to the same thing. If that doesn’t work you’d need to google for info as cracking software or giving links to illegal patches etc isn’t allowed here.0 -
I'll check that thanks Jon
I don't really want to have to look for a crack as it's a legit version.
I did check before I bought and was told that i would be able to transfer it no problem [bought on eBay btw] have been on tomtom site but they don't have a forum :-(0 -
I'd think it'd be protected in some way, or they'd never sell more than one :-).
Try looking at the card with 'show hidden' enabled in folder options, there maybe system files that need moving.
The other thing (which I found out when I installed it on my pda), you have to install, or move in your case, to the root dir. I stuck all the files in a dir I made called 'TomTom' and it stopped working. You have to have all the files and dir's showing on C: (or what ever).0 -
I think there was a thread a few weeks ago highlighting a firmware problem with the N73. v2 doesn't work and you may need to uprade to v3. Search back.0

Hi guys and thanks for the input.
Finally sorted it and the problem lay with Nokia PC Suite - or its inability to copy hidden files and folders.
So you were definitely on the right lines.
The only way to do it as far as I can see is to use a card reader and Windows explorer [making sure hidden files and folders are showing] then copy and paste to pc then from pc to new card.
Did it last night and used it today, works perfectly.
I think that TomToms anti share tool is that you have to reg the card, your mobile and an email address to get updates, only one phone and email address can be registered at any one time, so if I made an illegal copy for you, you would have it and be working but would be unable to update, so it's shelf life would be compromised?
Thanks agin for responding and hopefully if someone in the future has a similar issue the above will be useful for them.:T0
