If you want a number guaranteed not to actually connect to anyone, but still looks like a real number, try this:

All you need is a surname and location and it will appear, although if you are x-directory it shouldn't....
To the OP was it a text to your landline or mobile? I have no idea how they can get your mobile unless it's listed somewhere on the google....A PPC is not just for Christmas...with a few CCJ threats you should have enough toilet paper to last well into the new year.....0 -

Sorry I should have specified it was my mobile number - I have searched my name quite extensively on the web and can't find my number anywhere, I'm usually very careful with where I enter my details.0 -
If you have taxed a vehicle online, DVLA ask for it so they can send you spam messages. Not sure if they pass it along with the other details?
Not to worry, these fools cannot do anything, get rid of by either saying its a wrong number, or by saying "Hang on I will just put them on" and then putting the phone down and leaving it till they ring off. They get fed up with that quite quick. Then again, a quick "get stuffed" and hang up is also effective.0 -

I called them back after getting the text and was very firm, told them never to call or text again - said that everything will be ignored but a record of all attempts to contact me will be made. They called me back about an hour later and then hung up mid sentence.
I know there's no chance of them actually persuing it, was just concerned how they got my number as I'm very careful with where I put it about, as it were.
Thanks for the responses0 -
With Roxburghe you can just forget them. Totally, utterly, and completely USELESS. Even Frightened Dan the Jelly Man isn't scared of them.0

If you're on a contract or have ever provided your number to anyone for credit, etc, then chances are your number can be found somewhere online.

Some mobile companies allow you to opt out or in to a directory...I'm with T Mobile and I can opt in...which I haven't.....A PPC is not just for Christmas...with a few CCJ threats you should have enough toilet paper to last well into the new year.....0
