Downgrading to Plusnet value

Hi all,
I used to be on the plusnet extra which came with free mcafee antivirus suite together with 60gb download allowance a month.
I was only using around 6-8gb a month so a few monthd ago I went back to the basic cheaper option with 10gb a month limit & no anti-virus.
My question is that it appears I still have an up to date anti virus product on my computer. The mcafee software updates itself when necessary & when you launch the software it says 'all systems up to date'.
So is this right, I mean I keep getting emails from Plusnet saying would I like to pay a bit extra and get anti-virus?

McAfee isn't worth having even if it's free-it's consistently rated the worst AV program around. Uninstall it and use Avast, Avira or MSE for free instead. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for the quick response. I actually thought that Mcafee were ok & liked the fact that it was 3 in 1, i.e. anti-virus, firewall etc.
Anyway I will check out the others, Ive heard of Avast but what is MSE, Mr Lewis hasn't branched out into AV pc software now has he?0 -
Microsoft Security Essentials.
Unless yiu are running XP, you already have an adequate firewall provided by your OS.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
