Excellent one for the little princess in your life. I was scouring amazon for an ever after high costume for my daughters school dress up for World Book Day when I stumbled across it. It is completely FREE which is always nice!

Ever After High: Briar Beauty's Story

EDIT: I just found another 5 in the series, all free!

Ever After High: Madeline Hatter's Story

Ever After High: Raven Queen's Story

Ever After High: Apple White's Story

Ever After High: Ashlynn Ella's Story

Ever After High: Hunter Huntsman's Story

    Hi,

Nothing to do with the books but did you get the costume? I have been tasked to get an ever after high costume for world book day for my daughter and I'm struggling to get a nice , affordable one.

No! I think that it has not yet gained enough popularity in this country, there are plenty of costumes in the US but I couldn't find any here :(

I can't read a poorly written book. Most of these cheaper ones must be self published because a lot of them seem like rubbish stories by bad writers. It would drive me mad to read a book with loads of commas instead of full stops. Much prefer the books posted here that are by successfully published authors.
I'm the same. I now have a rule of thumb with kindle books from unknown authors with few reviews, if they don't have a paper version I don't bother, as it means they are probably self-published.

The well known authors have to start somewhere, they were once unknowns too! You can miss out on some good books this way. Eg Rosie Lewis - writes about the children she has fostered. I've read her free short book and it was heart-warming and well-written (enough that I would consider buying a kindle book penned by her for a good read). It has 313 reviews and star rating 4.5 stars. She has no paper versions!

You know, no-one makes you read the books and after the first few pages you can delete them very easily. If they're free to begin with, you've lost nothing apart from five minutes of your time (about the same as standing in a library choosing a book).

I would never tell people to avoid books by unknown authors or only on kindle and I'm sure that people who download the free books are aware of the poor grammar and typos that appear in self-published books, and that there are plenty of 'self published' authors who lack the talent of the well-known authors.

You don't have to pay your money to take your pick ;)

That's not the type of book [us] 'book snobs' are talking about - over 300 reviews is not "a few"!

And all those 5 minutes add up - with no guarantee of discovering the gem - I'm happier to be pointed in the right direction.

I've read some truly awful ones, some I even put down half way and never picked up again, not like me at all. I have also found a few good ones, one of which I shared on here.

I cannot believe how awful some are. I walked over to the chair. I pulled the chair out. I sat down in the chair. - ok, that's not from an actual book but you get my meaning, some are just so so so bad.

I also now look for recommendation when I buy ebooks or I'll always grab the freebies.
  • Is there a limit to how many free books you can download? My niece is staying tonight and I was going to put her a few stories on my kindle. I've downloaded two but the third says: we did not find a kindle device or reading app registered to your amazon account for which this content is available.

Strange, because the other ones downloaded with no probs.

Could it be that the third one is an illustrated colour book which would require a Kindle Fire and you have a different Kindle? Just a thought
  • Doh! Yeah, I think you're right, I downloaded a different book after and it was fine.
