Started to read this a few days ago - it seems aimed at teens?! It's about a school girl and talks a lot about her at school being picked on and fancying her friend. - Have put it down.

Might be good for later teen readers based on the first chapter.

Hi, I often read really good 'free' kindle books but by the time I want to list them on here they've gone up, so today I'm listing four books that as of 2 pm today are free only one of which I've read. They are all from the Crime, Thriller, Mystery dept.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-Holden-suspense-mystery-trilogy-ebook/dp/B004YDSL9Q/ref=sr_1_84?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1390398978&sr=1-84

Emma Holden's nightmare has just begun. Her fianc! vanishes, leaving the battered and bloodied body of his brother in their London apartment. Someone is stalking her, watching her every move. And her family are hiding a horrifying secret; a secret that threatens all those she loves. In a desperate race against time, Emma must uncover the truth if she ever wants to see her fianc! alive again.

The One You Love is a fast-paced suspense mystery, full of twists and turns, following in the tradition of writers such as Nicci French and Sophie Hannah.

Second this one (dunno if still free). Read it a week or so back. Grammar is annoying at times as the author likes putting commas instead of full stops. But the storyline was very good and kept you guessing. Enjoyable read, not a heavy crime novel, the storyline is as good as the 'whodunnit' aspect. Maybe a bit more geared to female readers than fellas.
  • Standing Tall

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Standing-Tall-Lynn-Manuell-ebook/dp/B00HXFO7XG/ref=sr_1_5?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1392499038&sr=1-5&keywords=standing+tall

Do you remember where you were the morning of September 11, 2001?

When we think back and talk with others about what happened that morning, the familiar question always arises, “Where were you and what did you experience?” Standing Tall details the accounts of people from all over the world as they share their thoughts and experiences on the morning of September 11th, 2001. Standing Tall gives an exceptional response from professional writers, composers, military personnel, and a pacifist struggling to come to terms with what that moment would bring. We hear from a twelve year old girl attempting to make sense of something so inconceivable, we also are given firsthand accounts from people inside the towers, and volunteers who gave up everything to be there.
  • 'Twelve Years a Slave' by Solomon Northup is on Amazon at 49p for the Kindle.

thanks for posting this, just downloaded and looking forward to reading :)

I can't read a poorly written book. Most of these cheaper ones must be self published because a lot of them seem like rubbish stories by bad writers. It would drive me mad to read a book with loads of commas instead of full stops. Much prefer the books posted here that are by successfully published authors.
  • The Soul of the Sun - Genevieve Crownson

Free today only (I think!) Really good book!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Soul-Sun-Argos-Dynasty-ebook/dp/B00GVAAABC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392567806&sr=8-1&keywords=crownson

The hands of time turn on the face of the sun. Only you can move them. If the Watcher controls the hands of the clock he can go anywhere, past or future-- and destroy our planet.”

Since the days of ancient Greece, the Argos dynasty has kept a secret, a mystery passed down through their descendants from generation to generation, in the hopes that the forces of good can stop the evil destruction of planet Earth.

Margaret Ingall is harboring that secret. Time is running out for the descendants of the Argos. They know a great healer and time traveler will be born of their blood. But the only person that knows whom they will call “the soul of the sun” is Margaret’s sister, Abigail. Before she can reveal the healer’s identity, disaster strikes…

Evil stalks them, watching and waiting to find out which member of her family has the ultimate power. Is it Margaret’s own child? Or her beloved granddaughter? Or even herself? Their only clue is a powerful protective amulet that will lead them all in a cat-and-mouse game to discover secrets as ancient as time.

If the Watcher discovers the truth before they do, all will be lost.

Fate, time and love weave together in their struggle to fulfill their destiny. Will Margaret’s fears sabotage her family’s protection? Can the healer accept her gifts in time? And once the soul of the sun is finally revealed, will it be too late?

Her power is incredible. The sacrifices required of her are immense.

Will it be enough to stop the Watcher?

I suspect it was self-published, yes. The author has real talent though; someone should have proof-read the book!
