I've just got my credit card statement and noticed I've been charged£4.62 for this book. Amazon are insistent that the book couldn't 't have been free when I purchased, though I'm certain it was. The email had a charge of £4.62, which I hadn't noticed at the time.
As a gesture of goodwill, they have offered a refund, and have removed book from device. If others downloaded it, it might be worth checking.

I wonder if you missed out on it for free and did not notice the cost as sometimes they are only free for a short period (sometimes only a day or less)?
I have not been billed mine was free - downloaded on the 17th.

What was the price on your confirmation of the order email? this would have confirmed whether it was free or £4.62!

My order was processed at 9.18am on 17th. See below. I was pretty certain it was free when I clicked on it, but as you can see from email I was charged £4.62,but never bother checking the free orders. Lesson learned, and I also learned that books could be cancelled within 7 days. No harm done It's amazing how quickly the prices change!

They do change quickly I sometimes wonder if they were on in error , seems you have been unlucky with a few of my recommendations :(

Re the returns, yes done that a few times after ordering and then having a change of mind, about a month ago order several James Herbert for Hubby that were cheap as he had just read an old one, then after I ordered them he said now I remember why I stopped reading them :eek: so I quickly returned them
