I will also say that I am one of the person that has published it. But its free today for all to read.

23 days is the war memoirs of my grandad. He was only 16 and living in eastern Poland when the war started. He fought against the invading Russian army. He was arrested and put in prison. Surviving gang warfare, lack of food & water, mock executions and torture. He had an amazing escape and managed to survive a long trek across Russia in the winter to freedom in Finland. He then returned to Europe as an SOE agent and then for the last few years of the war a Mustang pilot with the RAF.

For the more literary minded this book won the Orange prize and was shortlisted for the Booker prize. I did get this book in a print version several years ago, but sadly I have to admit that it is still in my book pile waited to be read.

Just to say I've just finished this book, and I really enjoyed it - unusual fascinating and recommended - still free today.
