Unlocking an iPhone on Orange
Hello, a lovely friend has just given me her old iPhone 3
as she has the new one. However I'm in contract with Vodafone for just over a year and the phone is locked to Orange.
I've spoken to a shop down the road who say they can unlock it for £45, is there a cheaper way?
iPhones and technology tend to baffle me a little so would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, I'll give Orange a call.
The next ques is, will they unlock for me as the new owner of the phone?
Hopefully they will, it's all confusing for me!"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

I'd avoid the unlocking Software - this is called 'Jailbreaking' and when a new firmware version comes out, your phone will re-lock again. Orange chathe £20 and take around 4 weeks to process it, but your handset it truly unlocked via iTunes, and you'll have nothing else to worry about!0
