gingergee . . . thanks - unfortunately a waiting game and or checking the bank tomorrow or Thursday to hopefully see an increase in the bank balance . . . will let you know the craic when we get the news - bad or good

Just be aware that not having an increase in your bank balance doesn't mean that your wife hasn't been awarded DLA. I didn't start getting paid until ~2 weeks after I received the decision letter though in my first payment I did get 3 months of backpay :)
It can take a few weeks for payments to go on to the system and be processed.

  • . . . the only sticky point off concern we have is that this is a variable condition so when it asked 'how many days/how many minutes' we had to write varies and expanded in the box below quoting the various key points above and stating dependant on inflamation levels which is very true . . .

    - the rules are reasonable frequency throughout the course of a reasonable period
    - you need, as best you can, to understand the words ‘safely’, ‘timely’, ‘repeatedly’ and ‘in a timely’ manner?

Reliably means to a reasonable standard.

In a timely fashion means in less than twice the time it would take for an individual without any impairment.

Repeatedly means completed as often during the day as the individual activity requires. Consideration needs to be given to the cumulative effects of symptoms such as pain and fatigue – i.e. whether completing the activity adversely affects the individual’s ability to subsequently complete other activities.

Safely means in a fashion that is unlikely to cause harm to the individual, either directly or through vulnerability to the actions of others; or to another person.

  • No letter yet but seems my OH has been awarded the LRC with no mobility going on the money put in the account and the timeframe - 4 weeks … question is what to do next as this seems pretty unreasonable given the circumstances and or we did not complete the forms well enough ???

Think very carefully before deciding to appeal against the decision, they could decide to take the award away altogether leaving you with nothing, as the change over to PIP is on its way the criteria for DLA is changing, from what I can gather, it affects the mobility element more than anything, so new claims COULD be getting looked at differently.

Wait for your letter. Then ask them for a copy of all evidence used to base their decision. Definitely appeal if you believe the award is not justified, which, based on what you say, it doesn't seem justified.

Yes, there is a slight possibility you could loose the LRC but there is also more chance you will be awarded correctly.

A poor report from a doctor can impact a claim, but if they have used a doctors report then you will be able to view this when you get the evidence back.

You only have a small timeframe to appeal, a month I think, but 6 weeks if asking for evidence (someone correct me if I am wrong)
How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.

    - I assume the level of your professional expertise is inversely proportional to the massive number of successful DLA appeals, so no ;
    - I wouldn't dream of telling you how to do your job, we desperately need people with your standard of [STRIKE]in[/STRIKE]- competency working for the DWP.

    :D

  • The exact same thing happened to me today, i called the DLA office and the op told me a decision had been made on Tuesday and i would get a letter in a weeks time to tell me of the outcome, she would not tell me what the decision was and she went through all the security questions with me, so i'm not holding up much hope, my claim was a review and has been with them or 6 weeks, they only wrote to my doctor so i dont know if thats a good sign or not.
