Ive seen a few posts about the same thing, they have rung up to be told a decision has been made but they cant tell them over the phone, a couple have been told they wont be disapointed but thats about it.

I cant see why they wont say anything as they must know its you whose phoning as you will have been asked all the relevant security questions, I guess if its bad news the operators are worried about suffering verbal abuse or something.
not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!

They can tell you the decision over the phone.....as long as you pass the security process. Get back on the phone and insist!

It may be of course that the decision hasn't been actually put on the system as yet so they know a decision's been made but not the actual decision. A quick call should clarify this.

    - unless he holds Power of Attorney .. .. .. from the DWP's point of view
    - he is asking for information about something which is nothing to do with him :D

Richie … thanks for the constructive response, I would have assumed as her husband I may have got an answer and given the fact that I answered all the security questions … just p*sses me off that I have been told a decision has been made but they won't say yay or nay; why say anything in the first place … on another stressful wait on a letter through the door which will no doubt be a "f*ck off" - sorry but really p*ssed off given the fact that my wife struggles daily with her bechets disease for the last eight months :-(

"Constructive response" was what was intended, neither Chrissiew nor Ziggazee realised you were not entitled to ask, and certainly not entitled to receive very private and personal information about anyone other than yourself. Anyone knowingly giving a~n~other person the information could also be dismissed from post and lose their pension rights.

peteranthony001, according to your own writings this DLA claim is only two weeks old, they are not usually known for that speed of response, as you have already yourself said, they have only just written to her GP, let alone others who may be able to offer her documented support.

The claim will be decided not her disease but on her care and mobility factors in general and Silk Road outcomes such as :

Lack of motivation to get out of bed due to fatigue or headaches
Lack of ability to get out of bed unaided due to joint problems or neurological problems
Lack of motivation to wash and dress because of fatigue and feelings of helplessness
Lack of ability to wash and dress because of joint problems, ulcers or neurological problems
Inability to eat (or difficulty eating) due to mouth ulcers or need to have all food blended
Inability to eat (or difficulty eating) due to gut involvement in Behçet’s disease
Inability to cook a meal due to fatigue and/or lack of motivation
Inability to cook because she cannot remember how to follow instructions due to neurological problems
Inability to cook because of joint problems or eye involvement
Inability to go out unaided because of anxiety through feelings of isolation or eye involvement
Inability to walk unaided over long or short distances due to joint problems or neurological problems
Inability to brush her teeth due to mouth ulcers.

When we go to the Library we both get books out on different tickets..when my OH take mine back, and asks what I still have out, he is told that due to Data Protection they can't tell him.

Wait for the letter, stressing out over it won't change the contents of it.
When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

Richie, again thanks - all of the above was implemented in some shape or form within her claim pack . . . the only sticky point off concern we have is that this is a variable condition so when it asked 'how many days/how many minutes' we had to write varies and expanded in the box below quoting the various key points above and stating dependant on inflamation levels which is very true . . . our GP was very supportive and declared an honest report back to the DLA, also a hell of a lot of supporting evidence was also submitted with the claim pack - a breakdown of what has been happening since June 2011 i.e. hospital stay, discharge letter, various consultant appointments, constant changes in medication, when pains got worse etc . . . its a waiting game now and fingers crossed . . .

Soapn . . . thanks for the comment . . . i understand the mechanics of the Data Protection Act 1998; and if you take it quite literally the DLA should not be speaking to me at all never mind allowing me to go through the security questions and teasing us with a decision has been made but we can not comment; if you can not comment on the decision then say nothing in the first place!

As you rightly say stressing about it will not change anything, the fact of the matter is it would be nice to know other than waiting for Postman Pat to deliver a brown envelope sent via second class post no doubt!

gingergee . . . thanks - unfortunately a waiting game and or checking the bank tomorrow or Thursday to hopefully see an increase in the bank balance . . . will let you know the craic when we get the news - bad or good
