Santander Fixed term ISA - do they contact you at end of fixed term?

Hi all,

I converted my Santander Direct ISA to a one year fixed term ISA last year. It is a Postal ISA so it cannot be managed in Branch or online.

At the end of the fixed term the interest rate reverts to a pretty paltry sum. My plan at this time is to convert to a Direct ISA once again as I forsee my needing access to the money over the next tax year.

On to my question - Does Santander write to you towards the end of the fixed term or does this contact have to be intiated by the customer? If the latter do I need to write to the Santander ISA centre and make clear my instructions?

Advice appreciated. I'm sure someone here has already been there done that :)

Last time I had a fixed term product from Santander, they rang me just before the end of term. They wanted me to roll it over for another fixed term, but complied with my request to transfer it to an instant access account. This was not an ISA but I expect they would do the same for an ISA.

But bear in mind that there will be a huge number of Santander ISAs maturing on the same date in the future, and given Santander's poor reputation for customer service, you would be well advised to set yourself a reminder for the appropriate date.
