whoah there big lad......
if you read the full thread, you will see that both Happy and myself are completely sympathetic to OP due to the shocking service OP ha recieved from BG.......
What we have said is we feel that OP is exagerrating how cold it was, and that they were both turning blue.
I think i was also helpful by advisin her to contact her doctor if indeed she was turning blue.
Can you explain how im Selffish? what did i take or stop the OP getting???
 I'll whoah when idjits stop assuming(feel) that someone is exagerating when they dont actually have a clue of the OP's circumstances and sarcastic comment sure as hell aint helpful???
You may be prone to exageration in your life but dont be so ignorant as to assume that others do :mad:Signature removed0 -
The problem is with pre payment that you may hold a Bgas card from previous tenants but alot of people on PPM can be changed with out them knowing still topping up there old card and it working.
Best thing to do is go to the shop by a different card, go home register it in your meter once it has beeped go down to the shop top it up then insert into your meter if that doesn't work ring a different supplier with your MPAN number they can loacate on EXOSERVE who your gas supplier is.Total amount of debt - £3540
Overdraft - £1540
Credit Card - £2000
Amount Payed - £100
Amount Left - £34400 -

That would be a MPN rather than MPAN methinks? Gas has to be different from leccie just because OK?I agree it may be a lot of hassle but worth it to get heat. I also seem to remember from my PPM days that suppliers could contact local Paypoints and authorise cards with amounts on them... or I may be living in a real world here other than the privatised mess we find ourselves in... Apologies for my digression

And you do???
Sorry no sarcasm here. all helpful advise. if turning blue in mild weather, contact your doctor. No I don't, but I don't comment on what I don't know such as "if turning blue in mild weather"????
That is pure conjecture on your part as the OP states it being cold yet you assume to know better when you don't know where the OP is or the actual weather conditions, and I don't think with a young child any chance SHOULD be taken???
As for the Doctor, does it appear the OP is totally dumb to need such advice, in context its just sarcasm and arrogance as shown here too many times, just as "Whoah big boy" comments are facile, condescending and arrogant and dont't ever assume superiority over someone you DON'T know!!!

Sorry OP my post won't help with your meter problems but to all the other posters - it wasn't mild at all where I live yesterday, it was cold enough for my cat to condescend to curl up on me so he could keep warm. So I can well believe it was cold enough for OP to move her children to her mother's house.0

I once worked for a contractor for british gas on 24/7 emergency gas & electric.
Every single day every call out was for a "vulnerable" person... almost 90% of those were people who had no vulnerability or even had gas / electric on.
Worst one of me was being called a "f***ing c**t and the reason why her kids would die tonight" I busted my !!! out for her got an engineer out to her 5 hours later. guess what. She had a gas supply, she had her card. she just didnt want to go to the shop.
Then another time we had a customer die ( he shouldnt have been out of hospital but thats another thing ) because our engineer didnt have time to get to the person due to every call being vulnerable.
Its a hard situation, but you get numb to it very quickly and dont believe any customers.
British gas, if you persist with the duty manager will reimburse you for a hotel if they cant get an engineer out.Working within the gas and electric industry since 2008'0 -

Its a difficult situation and in many cases the customer is further frustrated by poor service from their supplier. To a lot of customers, the seperate agents are from the supplier so they just get a load of abuse for no reason.
I can see it from the other end when you are being messed about but its not the engineers fault who is on callout. Some engineers can be a pain but they can also be a wealth of information in a complex situation and I always advise people to be on site for this purpose...well, and save a supplier stupidly sending the same bloke out over and over because day glows dont cut it for complex situations!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

To add my tuppenceworth hopefully without being gratuitously insulting, I am slightly surprised that anybody sensitive to "fuel poverty" can't see that while it may have seemed cold (blue even) it was certainly not severely cold.
I am not condoing the supplier's abysmal performance, but heating failure and electricity failure can occur at any time. Gas failure is very rare but a central heating system without electricity does not work. I don't recall the OP specifying the type of heating. Certainly a gas fire would have been missed.
Commonly electricity failure occurs in extreme weather and central heating repair times in extreme weather are typically extended for days. The point is that householders need a plan to avoid a crisis. I think that is what the "it wasn't that cold" posters are trying to say.0
