Great little car for a run around, I've owned the car for just under 6 years, cost me about £300 a year to fix, but considering it's 11 years old?
It seems to do 260 miles to a full tank (approx 30 litres) which isnt too costly. Bit noisy on the motorway but great to nip into town with.
If it's a family car your after, this is not it, the boot is very little and the back is quite small although the 4 doors are useful and the inside is what we call a TARDIS, completely bigger on the inside.
I love my little car!0 -
thanks for taking the time to reply Jim...its appreciated0

I had one once as an insurance loan car - couldn't wait to give it back!
Felt I was driving in the "car" equivalent of a lawn mower.0 -
My ex's father had to be physically disuaded from returning his Matiz via the dealer's showroom window. A disaster from the moment he got it.0

My grandad has a Chevrolet Matiz SE which he has owned since new for 5 years.
He says it is probably the best car he has owned for a while. Cars before that was a Rover 100 and a K10 Nissan Micra and a Metro before that.
The later Chevrolet Matiz's are better and cleaner (engine wise) than the older Daewoo Matiz.0 -
Absolutely awful.
Had one as a courtesy car once. The fuel tank is thimble sized and you have to thrash it so hard to get anywhere the economy really suffers.
Slight inclines phased it, the lack of grip was concerning and I certainly wouldn't want to have an accident in one.
Do yourself a favour and buy a Corsa or a Fiesta. At least you won't look like an idiot driving one of those.0 -
There are some real used Matiz bargains about, I've seen low mile (20-30k) 2008 FSH 1.0l models for £3,000 in my area.
Looks a good economical car if the size isn't an issue for you. I have heard some "lawnmower" comments but why don't you give one a test drive and see how it suits you?
When I was considering one, everything I read said to 100% avoid the 0.8l version unless you keep it strictly to the city centre.GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

I was nodding along in agreement until that final sentence.
The matiz was one of the worst cars daewoo made after the nexia, don't think chevvy improved it much since. I had a lanos, which was apparently one of their better efforts, and whilst reliable, it handled like a boat. Corners made me seasick.
If you want something small and fun, have a look at a suzuki swift.0 -
I haven't owned one but driven them regularly and know of several.
Its a small narrow city type or local use car, very economical and nippy, and if used as intended are great little things, they will do the motorway run for you but thats not really what they are about.
Fantastic all round visibility, park them anywhere, easy peasy to drive, the rare auto is a proper auto and far nicer than you would think.
If you want one get someone who knows their stuff to check the front discs carefully, the discs are fitted from behind the hub...if you mention that to whoever checks one out for you they will know what to look for, the way they are fitted makes disc renewal expensive as you will end up with new front wheel bearings too.
It's not a poseurs car, just a simple city hack, and none the worse for that.
The opinion of those who judge someone by their car is worth little.0 -
