Looking for some help (using mobile phone internet on laptop)

Hi guys,

I'm having home broadband problems and I beleive i can connect my mobile via USB and use that on the laptop.I get unlimited usage etc and im wondering what speed it will be ?

I have an Experia x10i.

    As that's an Android phone you can get 'Speedtest' from the Market. Run it and this will tell you your upload and download speeds. I'm getting about 1.5Mb download and 390k upload speeds but this will vary depending on transmitter and proximity to it etc.

    Regarding using it as a USB modem then yes you can, it's in the 'Wireless & Networks' menu somewhere. You can either set it up as a USB connection or you can actually turn your phone into a wi-fi hotspot and connect that way.

    Be aware though that most mobile networks forbid 'tethering' your phone to a laptop or PC and they do have ways of detecting if this is the case.
