Yvonne, get used to referring to hard drive/disc GBs as storage; this will help avoid confusion with RAM (random access memory).

There is still the issue of MSE downloading updates when unauthorised. This could take someone (expensively) over their download limit.

I will try to remember thank you :) And your correct about the download limit BT keep sending me emails around 5 days before the end of the month saying I'm downloading very close to the max but I don't download anything its MSE and it just wont stop. :(
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

MSE's updates are automatic and whilst delivered through windows update, they aren't governed by the windows automatic update settings.

Antivirus software needs updates for it to remain current and give you the best protection possible.

I doubt a few kb's of definition updates are what's pushing your download limit to the max.

Hi Yvonne , it's everything you do 'online' that is adding up to your download limit , it could be watching youtube videos , playing online games or just loads of surfing!
Sure MSE updates are adding to it too , but they are tiny in comparison to everything else.

Sounds like there could be malware downloading stuff that you are not aware of. Also, everything you upload is taken off your allowance too, but just posting on here doesn't account for it.
Did you know you can install a meter of your own, independent of BT's?

It might be worth starting a new thread for advice on mystery downloads.
