I have set my antivirus to check for updates and not download unless I select it to.
Once again Microsoft Security Essentials has downloaded and installed optional updates what I have not given permission for this to happen. It has installed 20 optional updates since the beginning of this month and is taking up a lot of space on my drive, how do I get it to stop or do I have to get rid of MSE and get a new AV?

It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

Are you sure they are taking up a lot of space? They shouldn't be very large tbh - how big is your hard drive?0

4gb so far 116 updates have been installed without permissionIt's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
A 4GB hard drive, are you sure?
As far as the updates go, that is more than likely microsoft update installing patches for your operating system.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

Yes I think is 4gb and I use windows 7 but the updates say they are for MSEIt's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Windows 7 itself takes up 14gb so you can't have a 4gb HDD0

RAM is something completely different to hard drive space. If you go to Start / Computer it should show you the size and used space of your drive0

In which case don't sweat it about the updates - they are all for the health and security of your machine0
