I am trying to watch iplayer on my laptop but Virgin (my isp) seems to be having some performance issues tonight and the download speeds are too slow to support it in HD. I just ran the speed test on iplayer site which confimed this. It did say I should be able to watch it a lower speed..
However I cannot find out how to undo the default HD settings. Anyone know?

Iplayer isnt HD by default so maybe clear you cache and try again, also bottom left next to welsh option is the normal/low bandwidth toggle0

Its a toggle, click on the icon to change to sd.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Where is toggle? There is no icon on my screen next to welsh option (bottom left). I have reloaded the show but get message "insufficient bandwidth to stream this show". We have Virgin XL tv and 10mbps bandwidth (max for our area). Just tested download speed and it is 2.4mb! Upload is 0.1mb
I am watching a series catch up and HD appears next to the episode titles and when I try to play one the HD icon appears on top left.
Is that possible that catch up episodes are only available in HD and can only be watched as HD?0 -
A) Try shutting down any unneccesary programs accessing the internet.
Dont be downloading or have youtube open if you have iPlayer open.
C) Also, state that you have already checked the HELP sections of BBC (I know you have)
D) Use FIREFOX. It tends to stream better in there and not so good in Internet Explorer.
E) REPORT the issue to BBC. Keep reporting it and reporting it every chance you get.
Z) Click on the two places as shown below.
